Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptionally organized, commercially sharp, and resource-efficient Procurement & Logistics Officer to optimize our supply chain architecture from our Amuwo-Odofin hub. Operating at the vital intersection of vendor management and material movement, you will hold absolute operational accountability for our sourcing lifecycles—bridging the gap between strict cost-containment goals and timely product delivery.
This position is engineered for a proactive problem-solver who can handle high-pressure logistics. You will take the lead in discovering and vetting reliable suppliers, driving aggressive price negotiations, managing purchase orders, and tracking inbound and outbound freight. With an unyielding focus on data hygiene, inventory optimization, and transit risk management, you will eliminate delivery delays, protect operating margins, and ensure seamless replenishment cycles across our facility networks.
Requirements:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Negotiation
Vendor Ecosystem Engineering: Research, identify, and onboard high-tier local and international suppliers, continuously cultivating a resilient vendor pipeline to mitigate supply disruptions.
Cost Optimization & Contracting: Drive aggressive price and term negotiations with suppliers to secure premium value, formulating clear service-level agreements (SLAs) regarding material quality, lead times, and payment models.
Purchase Order Lifecycle: Formulate and process formal Purchase Orders (POs), matching procurement contracts with internal budgetary approvals and routing them seamlessly to designated vendors.
2. Multimodal Logistics Coordination & Shipment Tracking
Freight & Dispatch Management: Coordinate transit routes and manage third-party logistics (3PL) partners or internal fleet systems to guarantee safe, cost-effective transport of goods.
Real-Time Shipment Monitoring: Track transit manifests closely, stepping in immediately to resolve clearing friction, port hold-ups, or transit breakdowns along key Lagos commercial routes.
Inbound Inspection & Verification: Partner with receiving teams to verify that incoming deliveries perfectly match PO manifests in volume, quality, and technical specification.
3. Advanced Inventory Control & Data Hygiene
Replenishment Governance: Monitor warehouse material balances regularly, using historical usage data to establish optimal safety-stock parameters and trigger timely reorder alerts.
Airtight Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date physical and digital supply registries—including proforma invoices, clearing paperwork, bill of ladings, inventory adjustments, and vendor performance indices.
Analytical Reporting: Compile and submit comprehensive weekly and monthly procurement cost-variance summaries, shipment transit scorecards, and inventory accuracy dashboards to management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Academic Tracks
Degree Baseline: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, or a related quantitative commercial discipline from an accredited institution.
Experience & Sector Footprint
Domain Longevity: Minimum of 4 years of proven, verifiable experience directly handling core procurement and logistics operations.
Geographical Knowledge Base: Strong practical familiarity with the logistical network, clearing corridors, and industrial/commercial hubs around the Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa, Mile 2, and broader Lagos West axes will be treated as a major operational advantage.
Technical Competencies & Tool Stack
Sourcing & Inventory Competency: Deep understanding of modern supply chain mechanics, including vendor rating metrics, lead-time tracking, three-way matching, and safety stock calculation models.
Software Tool Fluency: High-level proficiency navigating Microsoft Office applications (specifically mastering Microsoft Excel for cost-comparative modeling, pivot tracking, and inventory logs). Experience with dedicated ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) is an added benefit.
Communication Core: Elite verbal and written communication skills, with the emotional intelligence (EQ) and negotiation presence needed to manage demanding vendors and logistics providers under tight deadlines.
