Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Security Engineer to own the foundational security of Paystack’s cloud infrastructure. You will not act as a traditional "policy enforcer," but rather as a lead architect who builds the engineering layer that makes our platform trustworthy by design. You will own our AWS organization end-to-end, defining the architecture, account structures, and the horizontal controls that every engineering team relies on. This is a high-agency role where you will identify and solve complex infrastructure security problems, making the secure path the easiest one for our engineers to follow.

Requirements:

• AWS Organization Ownership: Direct the architecture, account structure, and organization-level controls across all products and environments.

• Access Governance: Design and implement identity and permission models from first principles, building self-service systems that enforce security without hindering developer velocity.

• Security Baselines: Define and enforce infrastructure security standards that ensure all provisioned resources meet a high-security bar by default.

• DevOps Partnership: Serve as the central security partner to our DevOps team, participating in infrastructure design decisions from the start.

• Core Security Infrastructure: Build and maintain robust systems for secrets management, supply chain security at the infrastructure layer, and network controls.

• Observability Pipeline: Own the security observability pipeline, ensuring logs and signals are reliably delivered to Security Operations.

• Compliance Automation: Translate multi-market regulatory requirements (GDPR, PCI-DSS, etc.) into concrete, automated infrastructure controls and programmatic audit evidence.

Qualifications and Skills:

• AWS Expertise: Deep, production-tested experience securing multi-account AWS environments at scale. You have clear, evidence-based opinions on cloud security architecture.

• Infrastructure Ownership: Proven track record of owning cloud infrastructure at the organizational level, including policy enforcement and governance.

• Technical Rigour: Ability to write defensive, high-quality production code. You are an engineer who builds the tools you advocate for.

• Systems Thinking: A strong mental model of web security from client to server, and the ability to reason about how threat landscapes evolve.

• Compliance Maturity: Experience operating in highly regulated environments where compliance frameworks require automated, programmatic evidence generation.

• Influence & Communication: Credibility to act as the primary security advisor to senior engineering teams, with the ability to push back effectively without creating friction.

• High Agency: A self-starter who identifies systemic risks before they are articulated and drives solutions through to completion.
