Street Child is a UK charity working to protect vulnerable children and improve access to education in some of the poorest communities in the world.  We work in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nepal and since November 2016, Street Child has been involved in the Humanitarian response in North East Nigeria.

Street Child works in the fields of education, child protection and livelihoods, working to deliver sustainable solutions and create maximum impact. Our work combines counselling, family mediation, business support, school building, teacher training and child protection.  We were a key player in the Ebola crisis and led the global response for children orphaned by Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia. We deliver all our programmes through local partners and, since 2008, together we have built/renovated over 200 schools and are now helping to educate over 40,000 young people.

Job Description:

We are seeking a high-velocity and mission-aligned Operations Officer to anchor the execution engine of Street Child in Maiduguri. In a specialized humanitarian landscape where institutional momentum is dictated by the speed of the supply chain and the precision of the resource allocation success is defined by "Impact Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize daily operational activities with the clinical precision required for Procurement, Logistics, and Field Support. This role is designed for an "Operational Architect" with a Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience (preferably in the NGO sector) who can blend "Field Grit" (managing office security and utilities) with the "Strategic Agility" required to navigate donor compliance and supply chain bottlenecks.

Requirements:

1. Orchestration & Procurement Governance

  • Sourcing Sovereignty: Manage end-to-end procurement processes with millimetric focus, acting as the primary "Source of Quality Resource Inflow."

  • Vendor Architecture: Build and maintain high-fidelity relationships with vendors to ensure cost-effective purchasing, providing the "Structural Foundation" for program sustainability.

  • Compliance Stewardship: Ensure all transactions align with organizational policies and donor regulations, ensuring the "Source of Institutional Accountability" is elite and uncompromised.

2. Tactical Resilience & Logistical Logic

  • Supply Sovereignty: Oversee field logistics and supply chain management to ensure materials reach children in need, acting as the primary "Source of Field Readiness."

  • Asset Architecture: Maintain accurate records of inventory, assets, and operational transactions, providing the "Functional Foundation" for resource tracking and audit readiness.

  • Maintenance Stewardship: Coordinate office internet, security, and utilities in the Maiduguri office, maintaining the "Source of Operational Continuity."

3. Operational Integrity & Collaboration Power

  • Synergy Sovereignty: Facilitate communication between departments to resolve operational challenges, acting as the primary "Source of Workflow Fluidity."

  • Financial Architecture: Collaborate with finance teams on budget tracking and invoice processing, providing the "Relational Foundation" for fiscal transparency.

  • Velocity Logic: Utilize 3 years of NGO operations experience to streamline routine HR and administrative activities, maximizing the "Source of Impact Throughput."

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in operations management (Nonprofit/International NGO experience preferred).

  • Technical Power: Strong knowledge of Logistics, Supply Chain, and Database Management.

  • Software Mastery: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
