Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Account Intern to serve as a vital support pillar within our finance department in Victoria Island. In a high-speed corporate environment, the integrity of financial data begins with the precision of its initial entry. This role is designed for an "Aspiring Finance Professional", someone who is eager to master the "Ground-Truth" of accounting, from daily ledger maintenance to the complexities of Nigerian tax compliance.

Your mission is to ensure the absolute accuracy of our financial documentation. You will be responsible for the entire foundational lifecycle: from recording daily transactions in professional accounting software and reconciling bank statements to assisting with VAT, WHT, and PAYE schedules. Requirements:

1. Financial Record Architecture & Data Integrity

• Transaction Recording: Assist in the daily capture of financial data within our accounting software, ensuring every entry is categorized correctly according to the Chart of Accounts.

• Document Governance: Maintain a "Zero-Error" filing system for invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers, ensuring that all financial records are audit-ready at a moment's notice.

• Ledger Maintenance: Support the continuous update of journals, ledgers, and accounting schedules to provide a real-time view of the company’s financial health.

2. Operational Liquidity Support (AP/AR & Cash)

• Payables & Receivables: Assist in processing supplier invoices and preparing customer billing, while supporting the monitoring of outstanding payments to optimize cash flow.

• Bank Diplomacy: Support the preparation of bank reconciliation statements and petty cash tracking, identifying and escalating discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.

• Reconciliation Mastery: Learn to reconcile vendor and customer statements, ensuring that our internal books perfectly match external partner records.

3. Reporting, Tax & Compliance Support

• Monthly Reporting: Assist in compiling the data and schedules required for monthly management reports and high-level financial analysis.

• Tax Stewardship: Support the preparation of mandatory tax schedules, including VAT (Value Added Tax), WHT (Withholding Tax), and PAYE (Pay As You Earn).

• Audit Facilitation: Provide critical documentation support during internal and external audit exercises, learning the standards of corporate financial compliance.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Interested candidates should possess a relevant degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (OND, HND, or BSc).

• Technical Potential: Basic familiarity with accounting software and a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Location: Must be able to work full-time in Victoria Island, Lagos.
