Job Description:
We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented Managing Director to spearhead our cooperative’s strategic direction in Abuja. You will provide executive leadership, drive substantial membership growth, and oversee comprehensive credit and loan operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for strengthening financial controls, supervising a high-performing team, and ensuring the long-term profitability and sustainability of the organization.
Requirements:
Strategic Leadership: Direct the day-to-day operations of the cooperative, serving as the primary liaison to the Board/Executive Committee.
Growth & Development: Lead aggressive membership acquisition strategies, manage savings mobilization, and identify new business development opportunities.
Credit & Loan Management: Take full ownership of the end-to-end loan lifecycle, including marketing, rigorous credit appraisal, disbursement, monitoring, and effective loan recovery.
Financial Oversight: Supervise all accounting functions, financial reporting, cash flow management, and the implementation of robust internal controls.
Team Performance: Manage staff productivity, foster a culture of high performance and teamwork, enforce disciplinary standards, and elevate member service delivery.
Compliance & Risk: Maintain impeccable documentation standards and ensure the cooperative remains fully compliant, risk-aware, and audit-ready at all times.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture strong professional relationships with members, local business communities, and institutions throughout Kubwa and the surrounding regions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or a related commercial/social science field.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years served in a senior management capacity within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit-focused organization.
Technical Expertise: Proven track record in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loan portfolio management, and senior-level team leadership.
