Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptionally sharp, system-literate, and commercially astute Plant Management Accountant to lead the fiscal planning, budgeting, and performance reporting framework at our manufacturing plant in Lagos. Operating as a critical financial co-pilot to plant operations, you will hold absolute operational accountability for providing up-to-date, valid, and accurate financial intelligence to de-risk localized business choices and maximize production margins.
Requirements:
1. Plant Budgeting Architecture & Dynamic Forecasting
Business Planning Governance: Orchestrate and circulate annual business planning guidelines, macroeconomic assumptions, and localized fiscal parameters to all plant department heads and budget holders.
Budget Consolidation: Lead the technical collection, cross-examination, and structural integration of multi-departmental inputs to construct the plant’s consolidated annual operational and capital budget.
Predictive Forecasting: Drive periodic rolling forecasts and sensitivity updates—monitoring shifting micro and macroeconomic indices (such as energy costs, currency movements, and raw material access) to recommend strategic budget re-alignments.
2. Monthly Variance Diagnostics & Performance Reporting
Financial Deviations Auditing: Monitor approved budget allocations against actual revenue ingestion and production expenditures, generating definitive monthly variance analysis frameworks.
Performance Statement Creation: Compile and present comprehensive monthly business performance statements, flagging critical cost overruns, margin erosion vectors, and high-risk financial areas directly to the Head, Plant Finance.
Ad-Hoc Business Intelligence: Develop specialized, ad-hoc financial models, cost-benefit analyses, and scenario evaluation maps to project the long-term cash implications of major plant operational changes.
3. SAP Ledger Integrity & Month-End Controls
Journal Governance & Approval: Audit and approve complex accounting vouchers and journal entries prior to ledger posting, ensuring complete compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Source Document Verification: Conduct rigorous data validation loops, cross-checking journal updates against primary factory manufacturing documents—including Goods Received Notes (GRN), Service Received Notes (SRN), and vendor invoices—to enforce absolute data uniformity.
Ledger Reconciliation: Manage comprehensive balance-sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations to ensure error-free, rapid closings during month-end and periodic management reporting cycles.
4. Cost Accounting & Strategic Allocation
Cost Center Optimization: Allocate central, joint, and shared operational expenditures accurately across distinct plant cost centers in strict alignment with corporate cost-allocation policies.
Operational Profitability Advisory: Proffer strategic, data-driven recommendations to the Head, Plant Finance and Plant Executive Committee regarding the financial consequences of supply chain paths, inventory valuations, and machinery investments
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Academic Anchors
Degree Baseline: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a strictly related quantitative/commercial discipline from an accredited institution.
Professional Charter (Mandatory): Active validation or fellow status with a recognized professional accounting institute is required—such as ACA (ICAN), ACCA, CIMA, or CFA.
Experience Parameters & Industry Footprint
