Job Description:

Key Functions

  • Responsible for planning and scheduling all maintenance-related activities across the site or facility.

  • Must have a solid understanding of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and compliance requirements.

  • Familiar with work selection processes, maintenance planning, cost estimating norms, and procurement procedures.

  • Knowledgeable in business controls, contractor coordination, and the development of detailed job packs.

  • Proficient in scheduling workflows to optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime.

  • Ensures coordination between operations (e.g., equipment readiness and permitting), materials management, construction support, and labor crews.

Requirements:

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes safety above all aspects of maintenance and planning activities.

  • Participates in planning sessions with Core and Work Teams to align on scope and execution.

  • Develops and schedules routine maintenance activities and collaborates with the Planner to build detailed turnaround schedules, cost estimates, and equipment plans.

  • Plans complex maintenance tasks in coordination with the Scheduler, Execution Lead, and Operations teams across all disciplines.

  • Identifies and monitors both critical and secondary paths for major maintenance events.

  • Utilizes advanced features of planning and estimating tools and trains field teams on look-ahead schedules to support smooth execution.

  • Contributes to the maintenance contracting and procurement strategy, and ensures adherence to established plans.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves scheduling challenges such as negative float, sequencing issues, resource conflicts, scope adjustments, and progress tracking.

  • Creates comprehensive job plans that include material needs, manpower, and execution timelines.

  • Advises on selection and management of construction materials when applicable.

  • Tracks and manages Field Change Orders (FCOs), including estimating and scheduling impacts.

  • Applies advanced planning logic—lead/lag times, critical paths, milestones—to ensure accurate schedules.

  • Assesses contingency risks and coordinates inter-team efforts to minimize delays when unexpected issues arise.

Qualifications and Skills:

Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar maintenance planning, scheduling, or engineering role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, industry certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations to leadership.

  • Comfortable working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and managing shifting priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Skilled in using industry-standard planning and scheduling tools.

  • Demonstrated leadership in team settings, with the ability to eliminate obstacles, track action items, and align cost projections with plans.

  • Familiarity with maintenance planning and scheduling best practices, including experience with Prometheus software.
