Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and tenacious Litigation Associate to bolster our legal team. In this role, you will be the face of the Firm in the courtroom, handling a diverse caseload of civil and criminal matters. We are looking for an advocate with a sharp mind for strategy, exceptional drafting capabilities, and the poise to manage high-stakes disputes before Magistrate, High, and Appellate Courts.

Requirements:

• Courtroom Advocacy: Represent the Firm’s clients in various courts and tribunals, delivering compelling arguments and managing all aspects of courtroom presence.

• Legal Drafting: Prepare high-quality legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and written addresses/briefs.

• Case Strategy: Conduct deep-dive legal research, draft legal opinions, and develop winning case strategies that align with client objectives.

• Dispute Resolution: Lead negotiations, settlement discussions, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes to secure favorable outcomes for our clients.

• Advisory Support: Provide sound legal counsel to the Firm and its clientele, ensuring that all actions taken are legally robust and strategically sound.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience: 4–9 years of proven litigation practice.

• Core Competencies:

  • Advocacy: Strong courtroom presence and experience handling complex civil and criminal litigation.

  • Drafting: Superior legal drafting skills with an impeccable eye for detail.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate opposing counsel’s moves and manage caseloads under strict judicial deadlines.

  • Procedural Knowledge: A solid grasp of the rules of court and civil/criminal procedure in Nigeria.

• Professionalism: Unwavering commitment to professional ethics, integrity, and client confidentiality.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and the resilience to perform effectively under pressure.
