About Company:
Worknigeria was established with a Singular Vision. To help the vast Nigerian workforce find meaningful jobs. We are also on a mission to upskill them in the best ways possible and help them grow with and within their careers.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber HVAC Pre-Construction Engineer to lead the technical development of our mechanical bid packages. This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering, project estimating, and strategic business development. You will be responsible for translating complex bid documents (ITB/RFP) into high-performance, cost-effective HVAC solutions. If you are a technical expert who can perform rigorous load calculations, design efficient system schematics, and defend your engineering assumptions to General Contractors and Architects, we want you to drive our pre-construction success.
Requirements:
1. RFP Strategy & Technical Proposal Design
Bid Analysis: Conduct deep-dive reviews of bid documents, addendums, and scope narratives to ensure 100% alignment with client requirements.
Technical Packages: Generate comprehensive response packages, including compliance matrices, design concepts, and system descriptions.
Value Engineering: Develop technical narratives that support design intent while identifying value engineering (VE) opportunities and constructability improvements to provide a competitive edge.
2. HVAC Engineering & Systems Architecture
Load & Sizing Analytics: Perform precision HVAC load calculations and ventilation sizing using industry-standard tools (Carrier HAP/Trane Trace).
System Selection: Select optimal equipment configurations (VRF/VRV, RTUs, Chilled Water, or Packaged Units) based on ASHRAE standards and local mechanical codes (IMC).
Schematic Development: Translate conceptual drawings into preliminary engineering documents and system schematics that define the project’s technical backbone.
3. Estimating, Costing & Procurement Coordination
Digital Takeoffs: Utilize digital tools (Bluebeam/AutoCAD) to provide accurate labor and material quantities for ductwork, piping, and controls.
Bill of Materials (BOM): Prepare detailed BOMs and collaborate with the estimating team to validate cost assumptions and competitive pricing strategies.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with manufacturers to verify equipment performance and secure budget pricing that aligns with project timelines.
4. Stakeholder Synergy & Quality Control
Inconsistency Resolution: Engage with GCs, Architects, and MEP consultants to resolve scope gaps and design inconsistencies during the pre-bid phase.
Code Compliance: Ensure all proposals meet rigorous energy codes and project specifications, maintaining a meticulous audit trail for all bid files.
Field Collaboration: Participate in job walks and pre-bid meetings to verify site conditions against design assumptions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Technical Toolkit
Design Software: Mastery of Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
Codes & Standards: Strong working knowledge of IMC, ASHRAE, and national energy codes.
Engineering Rigor: Ability to perform complex load calculations and interpret mechanical specifications with high precision.
Professional Background
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Mechanical/HVAC construction or HVAC design engineering.
Communication: Exceptional ability to draft technical narratives and present engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
