About Company:
Hoop Telecoms Limited was established in 2017 as a full Telecommunications Service provider. Since its formation, Hoop Telecoms has been growing rapidly and is emerging as a leading provider of telecommunication and business solutions. Our goal is to be the telecom company of choice for voice, video, and data for consumers in Nigeria, West Africa, Africa, and globally. Simply put; our vision is global.
Job Description:
We are seeking five (5) high-velocity and technically eager Junior Field Support Engineers to anchor our fiber network operations in Lagos. In Nigeria’s most connected city, success is defined by "Uptime Integrity", the ability to swiftly deploy, terminate, and repair fiber optic infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted service. This role is designed for "Network Guardians" with a B.Sc/HND in Engineering or Physics who can blend "Hands-on Technical Grit" with the "Analytical Precision" required to operate OTDR equipment and interpret splicing diagrams.
Your mission is to ensure "Absolute Fiber Continuity and Precise Network Expansion." You will be the primary engine of our Outside Plant (OSP) operations: responsible for physical cable laying, high-fidelity fusion splicing, and rapid fault restoration. If you possess "Physical Fitness," a solid grasp of Fiber Color Coding, and the "Technical Curiosity" to master optical testing, we want you to drive our connectivity sovereignty.
Requirements:
1. Infrastructure Deployment & Termination
Fiber Artistry: Assist in the professional laying of fiber optic cables—both aerial and underground—ensuring structural integrity and minimal signal loss.
Fusion Splicing: Perform precise termination and splicing of fiber cores, adhering strictly to industry-standard color coding to ensure perfect end-to-end connectivity.
Route Engineering: Visit customer and link sites to conduct surveys, determining optimal cable routing and precise material requirements for new installations.
2. Diagnostic Sovereignty & Fault Resolution
Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve physical fiber faults (such as fiber cuts or macro-bends) with high velocity to minimize network downtime.
Precision Testing: Master the use of specialized tools, including OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and Visual Fault Locators (VFL), to pinpoint fault locations with millimetric accuracy.
OSP Governance: Conduct routine inspections of the Outside Plant (OSP) network to proactively identify potential failure points before they impact service.
3. Documentation & Geospatial Accuracy
Reporting Fidelity: Maintain meticulous records of power level readings, splicing diagrams, and installation logs after every field assignment.
Geospatial Tracking: Record GPS coordinates of fiber routes to ensure the company’s network map remains accurate and actionable for future maintenance.
Inventory Stewardship: Track the use of field materials (connectors, closures, and pigtails) to ensure resource efficiency during deployments.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: B.Sc / HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Fiber Operations. Note: NYSC or Internship experience is highly valid and encouraged.
Technical Savvy: Basic knowledge of fusion splicing, fiber color coding, and handling optical testing equipment.
Core Competencies
Physical Grit: Fitness for demanding fieldwork and the ability to operate effectively in various weather conditions across Lagos.
Attention to Detail: Precision in identifying color codes and recording technical data.
Problem-Solving: The ability to think logically under pressure during critical network outages.
