Job Description:
Job Summary
- The IT Support Officer will be responsible for providing first-line technical support and maintenance across the company’s IT systems, hardware, and software infrastructure.
- This role ensures that all technology tools function optimally to support the dynamic and fast-paced needs of a construction company, including both office and site-based operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues across all company locations (offices and construction sites).
- Install, configure, and maintain website, computer systems, printers, mobile devices, CCTV, GPS trackers, and other technology used in field operations.
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults promptly.
- Maintain inventory of IT assets and ensure equipment is tagged, tracked, and maintained in accordance with company policy.
- Monitor and manage internal IT systems, backups, and antivirus protection.
- Assist with the setup of new employee workstations, email accounts, and necessary access credentials.
- Liaise with service providers and vendors for internet services, telephony, software licensing, and repairs.
- Ensure cybersecurity and data protection measures are implemented and followed.
- Train staff on basic IT operations and best practices.
- Support the integration of construction-specific software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, ERP systems) and mobile applications used on-site.
- Assist with the implementation of IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports on IT system performance and issues.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 2 - 4 years of IT support experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or similar industries.
- Certifications (Desirable): CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), CCNA, ITIL Foundation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, routers, switches).
- Familiarity with construction industry software/tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in remote or site-based locations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to system maintenance.
