Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Officer to support the human resources department in a fast-paced retail environment. You will play a central role in the entire employee lifecycle—from drafting job descriptions and managing high-volume recruitment to executing seamless onboarding and managing monthly payroll. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator who can balance administrative rigor (data management and compliance) with strong interpersonal skills (counseling and conflict resolution). Requirements:

1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Recruitment Lifecycle: Lead the end-to-end hiring process, including preparing technical job descriptions, posting targeted advertisements, and vetting candidates for retail excellence.

  • Onboarding Excellence: Create and implement engaging onboarding plans that integrate new hires into the company culture and operational standards.

  • Training & Development: Support the design and delivery of training programs to enhance staff skills in customer service and retail operations.

  • 2. Personnel Management & Counseling

  • Policy Guidance: Act as a primary point of contact for staff, providing clear counseling on internal policies, procedures, and employment conditions.

  • Performance Support: Assist in the performance management cycle, ensuring KPIs are tracked and appraisals are conducted fairly.

  • 3. Payroll, Data & Compliance

  • Payroll Management: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring all deductions and benefits are correctly calculated.

  • Records Management: Maintain meticulous employee records, including attendance, personal data, and leave cycles, ensuring 100% legal and policy compliance.

  • Legal Oversight: Regularly review working conditions to ensure the organization adheres to Nigerian Labor Laws and retail-specific regulations.

  • Disciplinary & Grievance: Support management in resolving employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary actions in line with best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Academic Background: HND/BSc holder in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional Tenure: Minimum of 3 years of cognate experience in an HR role.

  • Industry Advantage: Prior experience in a Supermarket or Retail environment is highly preferred.

  • Certification: Professional certification (e.g., CIPM) is a significant advantage.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with HRM software.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and staff engagement.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to handle sensitive staff issues with empathy, confidentiality, and professional firmness.

N200,000 - N250,000 / Month.
