Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber Head of Operations to serve as the operational architect of our financial institution in Kano. In the banking and microfinance sector, operations are the engine room of trust and scalability. This role is designed for a "Banking Strategist", someone with a minimum of 5 years of experience (with at least 3 years in management) who can synchronize branch activities, digital banking channels, and back-office controls.

Your mission is to ensure 100% operational integrity while driving service excellence. You will be responsible for the entire banking lifecycle: from cash management and vault administration to credit administration oversight and digital transformation. If you possess the leadership grit to manage diverse teams and the technical depth required by the CIBN standards, we want you to lead our operations.

Requirements:

1. Operational Integrity & Risk Mitigation

• Internal Control Governance: Implement and enforce rigorous operational policies that align with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and internal audit standards.

• Cash & Vault Management: Oversee branch liquidity, ensuring secure vault operations and accurate end-of-day reconciliations across the network.

• Process Optimization: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the "Front-to-Back" banking process to reduce customer wait times and operational costs.

2. Financial Stewardship & Performance

• Budget Oversight: Manage the operational budget for the Kano region, ensuring resource allocation is optimized for growth and efficiency.

• Regulatory Compliance: Lead the institution’s response to regulatory inquiries, ensuring all reporting (including AML/CFT) is accurate and submitted on time.

• Credit Operations: Collaborate with the credit department to ensure seamless loan disbursement and repayment tracking, maintaining a healthy portfolio.

3. Human Capital & Digital Transformation

• Leadership & Coaching: Mentor a team of operation managers and tellers, fostering a culture of professional excellence, ethical integrity, and high performance.

• Tech Integration: Support the deployment of new Core Banking Systems (CBS) or digital banking apps to enhance the customer experience in the Northern market.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: BSc or equivalent in Banking & Finance, Accounting, or a related Management Science discipline.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the Banking industry, with at least 3 years in a Managerial position.

• Certification: A Certificate in Microfinance Banking (MCIB/CIBN) is highly preferred and considered a significant competitive advantage.

• Location: Must be able to work full-time in Kano.
