Job Description:

  • We are seeking a commercially astute and forward-thinking Head of Business Development to lead our growth agenda across power and energy solutions.
  • This role is responsible for driving revenue expansion, securing high-value customers, and developing innovative energy solutions that align with evolving market demands.
  • The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking, strong commercial acumen, and deep industry knowledge to unlock new opportunities across bilateral power agreements, embedded generation, and off-grid energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Innovation:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies across bilateral energy supply, embedded generation, and off-grid models
  • Design innovative energy solutions, pricing models, and bundled offerings
  • Drive KPIs around revenue growth, customer acquisition, retention, and market expansion

Customer Acquisition & Revenue Expansion:

  • Lead end-to-end acquisition of Maximum Demand (MD) customers
  • Manage prospecting, proposal development, negotiation, and onboarding
  • Build strong client relationships that translate into long-term revenue

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Establish and manage partnerships with IPPs, regulators, and private sector stakeholders
  • Lead negotiations for bilateral agreements and strategic collaborations
  • Represent the organization at industry events and regulatory forums

Market Intelligence:

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities
  • Use data-driven insights to guide strategic decisions and investments

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (NERC and related frameworks)
  • Oversee due diligence, risk assessment, and governance for all deals

Digital & Operational Excellence:

  • Leverage CRM tools and analytics for pipeline management and performance tracking
  • Drive digital transformation within the business development function

Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing business development team
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer-centricity

Sustainability Focus:

  • Drive clean energy initiatives including solar, hybrid, and embedded generation solutions
  • Promote ESG-aligned growth and sustainable energy practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage
  • 10–15 years’ experience in business development within power, energy, utilities, telecoms, or infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and energy markets
  • Proven track record in commercial negotiations and large-scale partnerships

N1,000,000 - N2,000,000 / month
