Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Grants Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in managing our extensive $130 million+ grant portfolio. This is a strategic position for a finance professional who excels at the intersection of complex financial management and mission-driven development work. You will serve as the financial guardian of our grants, ensuring that our funding is not only managed with precision and compliance but is also leveraged to drive maximum impact for our organization.

Requirements:

  • Grant Strategy & Budgeting: Lead the financial architecture of grant proposals. You will work cross-functionally to develop accurate budgets, ensure milestone feasibility, and conduct quality control on all grant agreements to safeguard our financial interests.

  • Compliance & Audit Readiness: Oversee the full lifecycle of grant reporting. You will monitor expenditures against funder regulations, ensure strict deadlines are met, and lead high-stakes grant-specific audits by maintaining impeccable financial documentation.

  • Systems Management & Optimization: Serve as the "owner" of our grant systems. You will validate data integrity within Salesforce and Power BI, spearhead process automation, and refine internal systems to mitigate compliance risks as our funding landscape evolves.

  • Stakeholder & Technical Support: Act as a bridge between Finance, Fundraising, and Program teams. You will provide technical assistance and training to ensure that all program staff are equipped to document expenses and manage funds effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred).

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with a proven track record of managing complex grant portfolios, preferably within the development/NGO sector.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Expertise in Salesforce (or similar CRM) for grant management.

    • Advanced Excel capabilities (complex functions, modeling, and deep-dive data analysis).

    • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools like Power BI.

  • Key Competencies:

    • Analytical Rigor: Ability to synthesize complex datasets into strategic insights.

    • Communication: Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills; ability to translate financial complexities for diverse audiences.

    • Compliance Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying risk and ensuring audit readiness.

  • Eligibility: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of one of the following: Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Burundi, or the USA (East Coast major cities).
