Job Description:
We are seeking a high-velocity and technically elite Operations / Wellsite Geologist III to anchor our drilling and field development operations in Lagos. In the high-stakes offshore environment, success is defined by "Borehole Sovereignty"—the ability to harmonize real-time LWD/Wireline data with the clinical precision required for optimized horizontal well placement and abnormal pressure surveillance. This role is designed for a "Geological Architect" with 15–25 years of experience who can blend "Rig-Site Grit" (supervising mudlogging and coring) with the "Strategic Diplomacy" required to mentor junior staff and lead interdisciplinary reservoir studies.
Requirements:
1. Borehole Orchestration & Real-Time Navigation
Wellpath Sovereignty: Deliver optimized horizontal wellbore placement through the clinical interpretation of real-time image logs and cuttings description, ensuring maximum reservoir exposure.
Geotechnical Governance: Coordinate and monitor all Company-operated wellsite geotechnical activities, serving as the primary "Source of Authority" for LWD and Wireline operations.
Structural Synthesis: Apply advanced structural geology concepts to assess reservoir compartmentalization and communication, ensuring the well path respects complex fault geometries.
2. Operational Integrity & Surveillance Logic
Pressure Sovereignty: Execute high-fidelity Abnormal Pressure Surveillance, ensuring all parameters are captured and reviewed with Drilling Supervisors to de-risk kicks or lost circulation.
Acquisition Stewardship: Supervise all wellsite personnel (mudloggers, LWD engineers) to ensure the clinical quality assurance of all geological data acquisition and reporting.
Pre-Drill Architecture: Lead pre-drill planning and serve as the technical point of contact for third-party geological service vendors and offshore stakeholders.
3. Data Integration & Institutional Mentorship
Model Synchronization: Collaborate with geologic modelers to incorporate updated maps and interpretations into 3D geologic models, ensuring the "Digital Twin" of the reservoir is accurate.
Narrative Reporting: Compile and distribute high-fidelity Well Completion Reports and final formation evaluation logs, providing a clinical audit trail of the drilling campaign.
Human Capital Evolution: Develop and mentor less experienced geosciences staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety-first operational discipline.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: BS/MS in Geology from a recognized institution (MBA/MSc preferred).
Experience: 15–25 years of robust experience in wellsite geology, specifically within offshore platform and deviated well environments.
Certifications: Current OPITO (HUET, Sea Survival, H2S) certifications are mandatory for offshore deployment.
Core Competencies
Technological Mastery: Deep expertise in LWD, Wireline, Mudlogging, and BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly) configurations.
Analytical Grit: Proficiency in real-time image log interpretation, depth control measurements, and lithological correlation.
Operational Diplomacy: Strong organizational skills to manage third-party vendors and work within integrated asset teams.
