Job Description:
- We are seeking a highly experienced and analytical Geologist to support subsurface exploration activities within an upstream oil & gas environment.
- The role will focus on geological and geophysical interpretation, exploration risk management, budget control, and integration of subsurface insights into field development planning.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing exploration outcomes, improving resource discovery efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geological and geophysical interpretation of exploration prospects to identify hydrocarbon potential and support drilling decisions.
- •ntegrate seismic, well log, core, and reservoir data to build and update robust subsurface geological models.
- Monitor and control exploration project budgets to optimize resource allocation and ensure cost-effective execution of exploration activities.
- Prepare and present detailed exploration reports to senior management and stakeholders, including findings, progress updates, risks, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers, production engineers, drilling teams, and finance professionals to integrate geological insights into development and production strategies.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address geological uncertainties, exploration challenges, and operational risks.
- Evaluate drilling targets and support well planning activities to improve exploration success rates.
- Stay updated on emerging exploration technologies, software, and methodologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and predictive capability of geological analysis.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and company standards in all exploration and subsurface activities.
- Contribute to field development planning by providing high-quality geological interpretation and subsurface insights.
- Conduct basin analysis and reservoir evaluation to support exploration strategy and asset development decisions.
- Participate in technical reviews and peer evaluations to ensure quality assurance in geological interpretations and models.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in subsurface oil & gas exploration or related geological roles.
- Strong knowledge of geological and geophysical exploration techniques, basin analysis, and reservoir evaluation.
- Familiarity with drilling operations, well planning, and subsurface development workflows.
- Strong leadership and project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple exploration workstreams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in geological interpretation software and subsurface data analysis tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex technical data clearly.
- Sound understanding of regulatory, environmental, and HSE compliance requirements in upstream operations.
- Relevant professional membership (e.g., geological or petroleum industry body) is required or highly desirable.
