Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber General Manager to take full ownership of our retail store's performance and profitability. This is a strategic leadership role that requires a balance of commercial acumen and operational discipline. You will be responsible for driving aggressive sales growth, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a high-performance culture across your team.
As the primary custodian of the store’s P&L, you will ensure that every square meter of retail space is optimized for revenue, customer satisfaction, and brand integrity.
Requirements:
Sales, Revenue & P&L Accountability
Performance Ownership: Deliver on all store revenue targets, gross margins, and overall profitability goals.
Growth Strategy: Develop and execute in-store activations, promotions, and local marketing strategies to drive footfall and improve conversion rates.
Data Analysis: Monitor KPIs and analyze sales trends to optimize the product mix and pricing strategies.
Operational Excellence & Inventory Control
Daily Operations: Oversee all store activities to ensure peak efficiency, cleanliness, and strict adherence to brand standards.
Stock Management: Direct inventory planning, replenishment cycles, and shrinkage control. You will oversee accurate stock counts, audits, and loss prevention measures.
Vendor Relations: Coordinate with the supply chain and external vendors to ensure 100% product availability and minimize out-of-stock incidents.
Customer Experience & Brand Integrity
Service Standards: Ensure the consistent delivery of world-class customer service across all touchpoints.
Visual Merchandising: Maintain the store’s visual aesthetic in accordance with global brand guidelines.
Issue Resolution: Handle escalated customer complaints personally and use feedback to drive repeat business and loyalty.
People Leadership & Financial Oversight
Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of supervisors and sales associates, setting clear goals and conducting rigorous performance appraisals.
Culture Building: Drive a culture of accountability, discipline, and high productivity aligned with company values.
Fiscal Management: Manage store budgets and expenses, ensuring accurate cash handling, banking, and reconciliation processes.
Reporting: Prepare and present periodic performance reports to executive management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
Experience:
7–10 years of total retail experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record in full P&L management and hitting multi-million naira revenue targets.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in modern Retail Systems/POS and basic financial analysis.
Core Competencies:
Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate corporate goals into store-level execution.
Leadership: Strong coaching and people-management skills.
Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of retail math, margins, and cost control.
Problem-Solving: Decisive action-taker with a customer-centric mindset.
