Job Description:
We are seeking a highly disciplined and hands-on Finance Manager to take full ownership of our firm's end-to-end financial operations. As the sole finance professional at this stage, you will be the guardian of the firm's financial integrity, reporting directly to the Founder. You will manage a complex portfolio of accounts including operating, USD, and client trust accounts while collaborating with external ICAN-certified accountants for statutory filings. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accountant who thrives in a high-stakes, professional services environment.
Requirements:
Billing & Invoicing: Issue client invoices in both NGN and USD, ensuring strict compliance with Nigerian VAT requirements.
Trust Account Management: Oversee the client trust account in accordance with AML policies and the NBA Rules of Professional Conduct.
Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation across all bank accounts (operating, USD, trust, and reserve) to ensure 100% accuracy.
Payroll & Statutory Remittances: Process monthly payroll, including PAYE, pensions, and HMO premiums. Lead the filing of monthly returns to the FCT-IRS and FIRS.
Tax Administration: Manage WHT credit note records, including issuance to clients and collection from vendors.
Reporting & Strategy: Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, cash flow, and key metrics) for the Founder; develop and track the annual budget.
Audit Readiness: Maintain a clean chart of accounts and comprehensive financial records to an audit-ready standard at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Certification: ICAN qualification is required (or a demonstrable track toward membership).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of finance or accounting experience within Nigeria.
Tax Expertise: Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax obligations, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and the Pension Reform Act 2014.
Technical Proficiency: Practical fluency in Zoho Books or QuickBooks; experience with Nigerian payroll software is a distinct advantage.
Soft Skills: Exceptional numerical accuracy, disciplined reconciliation habits, and the ability to work independently as a "sole-person" finance department.
