Job Description:

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Finance Manager to lead our financial operations in Abuja. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the financial health of our organization, ensuring strict compliance with donor guidelines, managing complex grant portfolios, and providing the financial modeling necessary to support our long-term mission.

Requirements:

  • Financial Strategy & Policy: Develop and implement robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.

  • Grant & Donor Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of grant finances, including budgeting, compliance, reporting, and fund utilization. Serve as the primary liaison for donor financial inquiries.

  • Budgeting & Analysis: Lead the budget development process, monitor cash flow, and conduct sophisticated financial forecasting and modeling to support strategic decision-making.

  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure full alignment with regulatory requirements and donor-specific guidelines. Coordinate internal and external audits.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with program managers to track expenses, provide financial insights for grant proposals, and foster clear communication between departments.

  • Leadership & Capacity Building: Train and mentor the finance team on best practices, building internal capacity to manage budgets and reporting requirements.

  • Risk Management: Proactively identify financial risks, develop mitigation strategies, and establish rigorous procedures to prevent fraud and misuse of funds.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred).

  • Professional Certification: Must hold a recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, or CIMA).

  • Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or managerial role, specifically within the nonprofit or NGO sector.

  • Grant Expertise: Demonstrable experience in managing large-scale grant portfolios and navigating complex donor reporting and compliance requirements.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, scenario analysis).
