Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Finance Lead – Credit & Receivables to own the end-to-end credit lifecycle. This is a critical leadership role that balances the drive for business growth with the necessity for rigorous risk control. You will be responsible for everything from initial customer underwriting and loan booking to active collections and high-stakes recovery.
The ideal candidate is an assertive, data-driven professional with deep experience in lending and a proven ability to manage Portfolio at Risk (PAR) in fast-paced environments.
Requirements:
Credit Underwriting & Risk Assessment
Detailed Assessment: Conduct deep-dive credit evaluations of prospective customers by analyzing bank statements, cash flow patterns, and financial behavior.
Decision Making: Identify key risk indicators and provide definitive approval or decline recommendations in line with internal risk appetite.
Policy Alignment: Ensure all credit decisions are documented and strictly adhere to internal lending policies.
Receivables & Collections Management
Portfolio Oversight: Actively monitor the company’s loan portfolio, tracking critical metrics such as Portfolio at Risk (PAR), default rates, and recovery efficiency.
Escalation & Recovery: Implement structured follow-up processes for delinquent accounts, overseeing recovery actions and repossession where necessary.
Enforcement: Maintain a firm and assertive approach to collections, ensuring repayment discipline is upheld across all accounts.
Sales Support & Internal Control
Strategic Partnership: Work closely with the Sales team to facilitate growth while serving as the gatekeeper for credit discipline.
Compliance: Ensure all deal documentation is complete and compliant before any funds are disbursed.
Challenge & Review: Review and challenge proposed deals that do not meet the established risk criteria.
Reporting & System Management
Loan Management: Utilize systems (e.g., Lendsqr) to track portfolio performance and maintain accurate repayment records.
Reconciliation: Perform periodic reconciliations of receivables and loan balances to ensure system records match financial reality.
Performance Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive portfolio performance reports to executive management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certification: ACA / ACCA (completed or in advanced stages is highly preferred).
Experience: 4–7 years of total experience, with at least 2–3 years specifically in lending, fintech, microfinance, or asset finance.
Technical Competencies
Credit Mastery: Strong experience in underwriting, cash flow analysis, and risk assessment.
Portfolio Metrics: Solid understanding of PAR, default management, and recovery frameworks.
Asset Finance (Nice to Have): Experience in asset-backed lending (e.g., vehicle financing) and familiarity with legal recovery frameworks.
