About Company:
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a Danish international non-governmental organisation, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC is present in more than 30 conflict territories around the world assisting displaced people with shelter, food, income-generating activities, and a wide range of other assistance. It is of utmost importance for DRC to work in compliance with the DRC Accountability and Quality Management system and national legislations. Smooth, reliable and effective operational systems are preconditions for DRC to maintain its position as a trustworthy and reliable partner for our donors and an accountable organisation towards our beneficiaries.
Job Description:
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a high-caliber Finance Coordinator to serve as the financial architect for our consortium operations in Nigeria. This is a strategic, "founder-proxy" finance role designed for a professional who can navigate the complexities of multi-partner budgeting while maintaining the rigorous standards required by BHA/USAID.
Reporting to the Support Services Manager and collaborating closely with the Country Finance Manager and Chief of Party (COP), you will be the guardian of fiscal integrity. You will lead the Operations Working Group, ensuring that all consortium members—international and national—align with DRC Dynamics (ERP) protocols and donor compliance. If you are a seasoned finance expert with the diplomacy to drive results across organizations you do not directly line-manage, this is your opportunity to impact humanitarian delivery at scale.
Requirements:
1. Consortium Financial Stewardship
Consolidated Budgeting: Lead the development and consolidation of high-value proposals, ensuring sector-wide financial inputs are accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned.
ERP Mastery (DRC Dynamics): Own the financial data lifecycle in Microsoft Dynamics 365, from shared project setup and bookkeeping to partner installment processing and settlements.
Budgetary Control: Lead monthly Budget Follow-Up (BFU) meetings, tracking consortium spending against forecasts and documentation to ensure 100% absorption and accuracy.
2. Risk, Compliance & Audit Readiness
Regulatory Guardianship: Maintain expert-level knowledge of BHA (USAID) and Nigerian government policies, ensuring all consortium activities remain fully compliant.
Efficiency Auditing: Conduct field spot checks and verification visits to monitor support service delivery, documenting cost-reductions achieved through shared resources (joint procurement, shared bases, etc.).
Audit Leadership: Lead the preparation for local and donor audits, managing the risk register and implementing corrective actions across all consortium members.
3. Partnership & Operations Leadership
Operational Working Group (OWG): Build rapport and lead the OWG (comprised of Finance, Supply Chain, HR, and Admin personnel) to resolve systemic bottlenecks in recruitment, procurement, and reporting.
Sub-Grant Management: Review and govern sub-grant agreements, MoUs, and teaming agreements, ensuring timely disbursement of funds and reporting from all partners.
Capacity Building: Conduct Organizational Capacity Assessments (OCA) for national NGOs and provide on-the-job coaching to strengthen their financial and support systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of international practical experience in financial management, specifically managing large-scale budgets.
Technical Breadth: Required experience managing secondary support services (Logistics/Supply Chain, HR, and Admin) in field settings.
Donor Expertise: Expert-level understanding of US-funding (USAID/BHA) rules and regulations is mandatory.
Technical Skill Set
ERP Proficiency: Advanced experience with ERP systems; specific knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a significant advantage.
Analytical Grit: Proven ability to analyze complex problems and provide solution-oriented financial briefings to Steering Committees.
Soft Skills: High level of diplomacy, negotiation, and "influence without authority" to deliver results in a multi-partner environment.
