Job Description:

The Finance & Accounts Officer runs the day-to-day financial engine of our healthtech startup. This role bridges the gap between daily transactional bookkeeping and high-level investor reporting.

The position demands a hands-on accounting professional who loves clean data, process automation, and financial modeling. You will take complete ownership of ledger accuracy, monthly payroll execution, statutory Nigerian tax compliance, and automated payment gateway reconciliations. Additionally, you will support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) tasks to keep our records audit-ready and investor-compliant.

Requirements:

A. Bookkeeping & Month-End Financial Reporting

  • Manage the full bookkeeping cycle, maintaining accurate general ledgers, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and daily journal entries.

  • Complete month-end closing procedures and prepare investor-ready management accounts, including Profit & Loss

B. Payroll Administration & Statutory Tax Compliance

  • Run monthly employee payroll schedules, ensuring accurate deductions and timely statutory remittances (PAYE, Pension, NHF, and NSITF).

  • Prepare, file, and reconcile monthly value-added tax (VAT/GST) reports in strict alignment with Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and State Internal Revenue Service codes.

  • Interfaced directly with commercial banks, tax authorities, payroll providers, and corporate tax advisors.

C. Gateway Reconciliation & Transaction Auditing

  • Conduct daily automated reconciliations of high-volume digital health transactions and webhooks processed via payment gateways like Paystack and Flutterwave.

  • Isolate, flag, and resolve ledger balance gaps, processing delays, or transactional currency differences to ensure absolute cash book accuracy.

D. Budgeting, FP&A & Strategic Financial Modeling

  • Support the executive leadership team with active budget planning, rolling cash-flow forecasting, and multi-scenario financial modeling.

  • Build, update, and manage corporate business dashboards using advanced Excel or Power BI to present financial metrics to non-finance teams.

  • Keep corporate books permanently audit-ready, drafting detailed schedules for external audit checks and institutional investor due diligence reviews.

E. Process Automation & Internal Controls

  • Identify manual finance inefficiencies and deploy automated tools such as Google Sheets macros or basic SQL queries—to streamline data collection.

  • Document finance standard operating procedures (SOPs) and set up clear internal financial control checks.
