FARM MANAGER, POULTRY & FEED MILL AT A FAST GROWING LIVESTOCK AND FEED MILL FARM

Job Description:

• We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and hands-on Farm Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our poultry and feed mill operations. 
• The ideal  candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of livestock management (including parent stock and commercial birds), feed formulation, team leadership, and regulatory compliance.
• A veterinary background or strong experience in veterinary services will be an added advantage.

Requirements:

• Develop and execute farm-wide strategic and operational plans to optimize production and profitability.
• Lead day-to-day management of all poultry and feed mill activities, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Manage the farm’s operational calendar including breeding cycles, vaccination schedules, feed production, and procurement logistics.

Livestock & Production Management:

• Oversee the rearing of layers, broilers, and breeding stock from day-old to maturity with minimal mortality and optimal productivity.
• Supervise all veterinary procedures including vaccinations, disease control, and biosecurity enforcement.
• Maintain and analyze production data such as egg count, feed intake, growth rate, and mortality records.
• Coordinate procurement and application of veterinary pharmaceuticals, feeds, and farm inputs.

Feed Mill & Nutrition Oversight:

• Formulate nutritionally balanced feeds for various poultry categories.
• Supervise feed mill operations, ensuring efficiency, hygiene, and quality assurance.
• Monitor inventory and enforce reorder levels for raw materials and finished feeds.

People & Resource Management:

• Supervise and mentor farm workers and section heads.
• Develop staff schedules, training programs, performance reviews, and succession planning.
• Maintain an effective working culture built on accountability, transparency, and results.

Compliance, Reporting & Financial Oversight:

• Ensure farm operations are compliant with national agricultural, labor, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports on production, budgeting, health status, and revenue.
• Monitor expenditure and implement cost-saving measures across operations.
• Represent the farm at external stakeholder engagements, community forums, and industry associations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum Education: B.Sc. or HND in Agriculture, Animal Science, Animal Production, or related fields.
• Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA or Agricultural Management) and/or professional certification (e.g., NIAE, AVAN, PAN).
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in large-scale poultry management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory /managerial role.
• Proven experience in parent stock management, hatchery, and feed mill operations.
• Strong understanding of poultry production systems, disease control, and sustainable farming techniques.
• Computer literacy is essential (MS Excel, Word, farm management software, etc.).
• Valid Driver’s License required.
