Job Description:

Ensure effective risk management by identifying, implementing, and monitoring controls to mitigate hazards.

Ensure MTN safety systems and processes comply with all relevant laws and regulatory requirements.

Safeguard the safety of personnel, company assets, and the organization's reputation within the safety domain.
Responsibilities:
- Drive day-day safety compliance in the region and engage incident marshals to do same for locations without safety officer.
- Advice and Support MTN Regional Management and Staff on Results from Audits / Risk Assessments Related to the Following Areas: – Work Areas, Operation, Critical Jobs, Critical Tasks to Ensure Safe Working Environment at All Times.
- Conduct Regular Safety Surveillance to Identify Hazards and Proactively Prevent Incidents.
- Review and communicate safety scorecard/ targets to regional employees for operation in line with mtn safety annual plan and evaluate contractor safety performance in the region.
- Co-Ordinate Safety and Housekeeping Audits on MTN Facilities, And on Contractor’s Offices/ Sites as the need arises, to monitor compliance with approved safety standards and/or relevant local legislation and best practice. Also, co-Ordinate pre-mobilization audits for clients within area of coverage.
- Participate actively through provision of advice and support during regional incident investigation to establish root cause, cascade lateral learnings and make recommendations to minimize re-occurrence.
- Monitor MTNN contractors on safety issues and ensure compliance with MTNN safety policy requirements.
- Produce weekly and monthly safety performance report on the regional activities to support the overall safety objectives and quarterly regional performance report.
- Participate in the development and review of safety processes and procedures by ensuring that documentation is done in line with safety standards and/or best practice.
- Oversee activities of direct reports and ensure all transactions and administrative documentation is recorded and available for business use.
- Ensure timely resolution of all applicable/ relevant internal concerns within scope
- Provide Safety support and guidance throughout all activities
Requirements:
- First Degree in any Sciences or Engineering or Arts/Humanities
- MSc or MBA in relevant field will be an added advantage
Experience:
- 3 – 7 years relevant experience in SHE Management /Coordination
- Membership of Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), and any other recognized HSE Organization
- NEBOSH International General Certificate and/or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor’s Course Certificate
- Experience working in a medium organization
- Experience in Professional Safety, Health and Environment Functions, with good exposure/level of experience in HSE
- Proficient in MS Office Applications and other Microsoft tools
- Ability to use and understand SHE software tools and applications, and apply it to work
