About Company:
Slice Finance helps startups scale across borders by simplifying finance and regulatory compliance in emerging markets. Slice Finance emerged from a profound realization: behind every great innovation struggling to scale lies a tangle of regulatory complexity and operational friction.
Job Description:
Slice Finance (SF) is seeking a meticulous, execution-focused Compliance & Tax Operations Lead to serve as the "Nerve Center" of our 2026 U.S. Tax Season. This is a mission-critical leadership role designed to ensure that every client entity—ranging from Delaware C-Corps to multi-state LLCs—remains in perfect standing with federal and state authorities.
You will own the end-to-end execution of the tax filing lifecycle. Your goal is to shield our founders from operational noise by managing contractors, verifying documentation, and ensuring that every filing is audit-ready and on time. If you thrive in high-tempo environments, treat deadlines as non-negotiable, and possess a deep understanding of U.S. tax workflows, this is your opportunity to lead a vital operational front.
Requirements:
1. Tax Filing Command & Control
End-to-End Orchestration: Serve as the single point of accountability for U.S. federal and state tax filings (Form 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and franchise taxes).
Workflow Supervision: Lead and coordinate a distributed team of tax preparers, reviewers, and admin staff to ensure seamless execution.
Quality Guardrails: Perform first-line reviews of all deliverables to verify data consistency and template adherence before CPA handoff.
2. Compliance Infrastructure & Data Integrity
Tracker Mastery: Build and maintain centralized compliance dashboards (Notion/Airtable) to provide real-time visibility into filing statuses and dependencies.
KYC/B Governance: Validate and archive "Beneficial Ownership" information and jurisdictional documentation within a strict 48-hour window of client intake.
Audit-Ready Data Rooms: Curate digital entity folders and data rooms for external CPAs and investor due diligence, ensuring EIN letters and state qualifications are always accessible.
3. Risk Mitigation & Reporting
Proactive Escalation: Identify and escalate only material regulatory risks or systemic bottlenecks to the CEO, providing full context and potential solutions.
Execution Reporting: Deliver concise weekly status reports every Friday, summarizing progress against the "critical path" and identifying upcoming blockers.
Deadline Enforcement: Monitor compliance calendars daily to initiate proactive follow-ups, ensuring a 100% on-time filing rate.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Minimum 3 years in tax operations, compliance coordination, or public accounting support.
Technical IQ: Strong understanding of U.S. entity structures (C-Corps, LLCs, S-Corps) and their respective federal/state filing requirements.
Systems Fluency: Proficiency in compliance tracking tools (Airtable, Notion, or Smartsheet) and cloud-based document management.
Core Competencies
Operational Discipline: A "detail-obsessed" mindset with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines for multiple clients.
Communication: Clear, assertive communication style to provide direction to contractors and concise updates to leadership.
Adaptability: Comfort operating in a high-tempo, founder-led environment where speed and accuracy must coexist.
