Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly experienced and disciplined Security Officer to oversee the security of personnel, assets, and operations across multiple project locations, including security challenged and high risk regions.
  • The ideal candidate should preferably have prior experience in the armed forces, police, civil defence, or similar security agencies. The role focuses on strategic security planning, risk management, and coordination.
  • Experience managing security in conflict-prone, remote, or high-risk environments is highly desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities
Security Strategy & Oversight:

  • Develop and implement security strategies for projects across multiple locations.
  • Provide oversight of site-level security arrangements and personnel.
  • Establish standard security protocols and procedures across all project sites.
  • Advise management on security risks and mitigation strategies for operations.

 

Risk Assessment & Threat Management:

  • Conduct security risk assessments for project locations, especially in high-risk regions.
  • Monitor evolving security situations and provide regular intelligence updates.
  • Develop contingency and emergency response plans.
  • Recommend risk mitigation measures for staff movement and field operations.

 

Coordination with Security Agencies:

  • Maintain relationships with military, police, NSCDC, DSS, and other relevant agencies.
  • Facilitate security clearances, escorts, and interventions where necessary.
  • Engage with local authorities and community stakeholders to enhance security cooperation.

 

Operational Support & Field Coordination:

  • Provide guidance on safe deployment of staff to project locations.
  • Support field teams with travel risk assessments and movement plans.
  • Periodically visit project sites to assess security arrangements and provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate security logistics for operations in remote or volatile areas.

 

Incident Management & Reporting:

  • Lead response to security incidents affecting personnel or assets.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
  • Maintain centralized security logs and documentation across projects.

 

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure alignment with company security policies and donor requirements.
  • Support HSE compliance in relation to security risks.
  • Participate in audits and donor compliance reviews where required.

 

Training & Awareness:

  • Train staff on security awareness, personal safety, and travel protocols.
  • Conduct briefings for teams working in high-risk areas.
  • Promote a culture of security consciousness across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of OND/HND/BSc in any relevant field (Security Studies or related discipline is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 7–12 years of experience in security operations or security management.
  • Experience managing security in high-risk, conflict-prone, or remote environments is required.
  • Experience with NGOs, donor-funded, or large-scale infrastructure projects is an added advantage.

 

Professional Certification:
Experience working with:

  • Nigerian Armed Forces
  • Nigeria Police Force
  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
  • Department of State Services (DSS) or similar agencies

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in security risk assessment and threat analysis.
  • Experience in regional security coordination and advisory roles.
  • Knowledge of security protocols for high-risk and conflict environments.
  • Familiarity with security reporting, incident management, and crisis response.
  • Strong understanding of Nigeria’s security landscape and regional dynamics.
