About Company:
At Kennedia Consulting, our work is shaped by real-world experience across people, growth, and operations. We partner with organizations at different stages of maturity, from fast-growing SMEs to established corporates, helping them solve complex workforce and business challenges with clarity and precision.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-velocity and strategically astute Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to anchor the legal and regulatory backbone of our diversified financial services group. In a complex fiscal landscape, success is defined by "Compliance Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize multi-unit business objectives with the clinical precision required for financial regulations, corporate governance, and litigation management. This role is designed for a "Legal Architect" with 12–18 years of experience who can blend "Jurisprudential Grit" with the "Executive Diplomacy" required to advise leadership on high-stakes business decisions.
Requirements:
1. Strategic Governance & Advisory Sovereignty
Legal Orchestration: Lead the group’s overarching legal strategy, ensuring that business expansion across all units remains synchronously aligned with statutory requirements.
Executive Counsel: Serve as the primary "Source of Authority" for the Board and C-suite, providing high-fidelity guidance on legal risks, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic pivots.
Corporate Secretarial Oversight: Oversee boardroom dynamics and corporate governance matters, ensuring the group maintains an audit-ready "Source of Truth" for all institutional records.
2. Regulatory Fidelity & Risk Mitigation
Compliance Architecture: Design and enforce rigorous compliance frameworks tailored to banking, insurance, and asset management standards, ensuring zero-bottleneck transitions during regulatory audits.
Litigation Governance: Oversee the group’s litigation portfolio with clinical precision, managing external counsel to ensure high-velocity resolutions and minimal reputational exposure.
Contractual Integrity: Engineer and review complex commercial agreements and service-level instruments, de-risking the group’s partnerships and vendor engagements.
3. External Diplomacy & Professional Leadership
Regulator Synergy: Manage high-stakes relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g., CBN, SEC, NAICOM) and external legal partners, ensuring the group’s interests are represented with professional diplomacy.
Legal Team Mentorship: Lead and inspire the internal legal and compliance departments, fostering a culture of technical excellence and meticulous attention to detail.
Ethics Stewardship: Promote a professional workplace identity centered on ethical conduct and absolute adherence to industry-standard legal associations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: LLB and BL qualifications are mandatory; an LLM is a significant strategic asset.
Experience: 12–18 years of robust legal experience, with a heavy emphasis on the financial services sector (Banking, Insurance, or Asset Management).
Technical Mastery: Strong expertise in Corporate, Commercial, and Regulatory Law, with a proven track record in a senior leadership role.
Core Competencies
Strategic Grit: Exceptional ability to provide legal solutions that support, rather than hinder, business growth.
Diplomatic Power: Elite negotiation and communication skills for high-level boardroom and regulatory engagement.
Integrity: Absolute commitment to the highest standards of professional ethics and confidentiality.
