Job Description:
We are seeking a high-velocity and commercially aggressive Business Development Manager to anchor our market expansion in Rivers State. In the heartbeat of Nigeria’s industrial and energy sector, success is defined by "Contractual Velocity", the ability to identify high-value haulage and distribution opportunities and convert them into long-term revenue streams. This role is designed for a "Market Architect" with 5–8 years of experience who can blend "Consultative Selling" with the "Strategic Grit" required to navigate procurement cycles in the FMCG and Oil & Gas industries.
Your mission is to ensure "Absolute Client Acquisition and Revenue Scalability." You will be the primary engine of our commercial growth: responsible for building a robust pipeline, leading high-stakes negotiations, and ensuring a seamless transition from contract closure to operational execution. If you possess a "Strong Industry Network," a target-oriented mindset, and the "Commercial Acumen" to design competitive logistics solutions, we want you to drive our market sovereignty.
Requirements:
1. Acquisition Sovereignty & Pipeline Engineering
Opportunity Identification: Proactively hunt for new business within the logistics, haulage, and supply chain sectors, specifically targeting FMCG, Manufacturing, and Oil & Gas players.
Pipeline Management: Develop and maintain a high-fidelity pipeline of potential clients, utilizing market research to anticipate emerging logistics needs.
Stakeholder Diplomacy: Build and nurture deep relationships with key decision-makers and procurement teams to ensure we are the "First-Choice" partner for logistics services.
2. Revenue Growth & Market Intelligence
Contractual Engineering: Drive revenue by securing long-term service agreements and logistics contracts that align with our operational capabilities.
Market Analytics: Provide "Ground-Level" market intelligence and competitor insights to refine our business strategy and pricing models.
Performance Tracking: Rigorously manage sales conversion rates and revenue targets, ensuring consistent growth month-over-month.
3. Commercial Engagement & Proposal Architecture
Strategic Presentation: Lead high-level client engagements and presentations, articulating our value proposition with precision.
Collaborative Solutioning: Partner with internal Pricing, Operations, and Finance teams to engineer competitive, profitable proposals.
Negotiation Leadership: Command the negotiation and closure process, ensuring all commercial terms are favorable and sustainable.
4. Relationship Governance & Retention
Service Transition: Ensure the smooth hand-off of newly secured clients to the operations team, guaranteeing that service execution matches the "Sales Promise."
Expansion Strategy: Maintain client intimacy to identify opportunities for service renewals, expansions, and diversified logistics offerings.
Brand Representation: Act as the face of the company at industry events and networking engagements throughout Rivers State.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, or a related discipline.
Experience: 5–8 years of proven success in business development, preferably within the logistics or supply chain sector.
Network: A strong, existing industry network in the Rivers State/South-South region is a significant advantage.
