Job Description:

We are looking for a highly analytical and strategic Business Analyst to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will act as a bridge between financial data and operational strategy, supporting the Finance Business Partner in budgeting, forecasting, and performance management. You will be responsible for managing complex Management Information Systems (MIS), generating performance scorecards, and conducting deep-dive financial analyses that drive business decisions. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong technical background who thrives on data accuracy, process improvement, and engaging with stakeholders across the bank to achieve operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

    • Support the Finance Business Partner in comprehensive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across various business units.

    • Conduct detailed variance analysis and trend reporting to pinpoint business performance gaps and identify growth opportunities.

    • Develop robust business cases and financial models to support new initiatives, product launches, and strategic projects.

    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

  • MIS & Performance Management:

    • Oversee the end-to-end scorecard process: identify metrics, generate and communicate scorecards to end-users, and facilitate "performance dialogues."

    • Cascade business unit budgets down to the group, team, desk, and Relationship Manager (RM) levels.

    • Prepare and analyze customer profitability reports upon request.

    • Act as the primary point of resolution for conflicts arising from scorecards, MIS, expense control, and budget allocations.

    • Lead enlightenment and training sessions on performance initiatives and scorecard methodologies.

  • Operational Excellence & Compliance:

    • Collaborate with business units to gather, validate, and document financial and operational data, ensuring absolute accuracy.

    • Act as a liaison between Finance, IT, Risk, and other support departments to drive process improvements and resolve cross-functional issues.

    • Ensure strict compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory standards applicable to the Nigerian banking sector.

    • Maintain the highest level of security and confidentiality regarding all information and data entrusted to the role.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: A First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Science, or Engineering is required.

  • Professional Certification: A Master’s Degree or relevant professional certification (ACA, CIBN, or similar) is highly preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record in MIS, Finance, forecasting, or budgeting roles.

  • Technical Mastery:

    • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Experience using leading analytics tools and database query languages (specifically SQL).

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate training, lead performance dialogues, and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

  • Analytical Rigor: A natural problem-solver with a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to manage complex data sets.
