Job Description:

  • The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational efficiency, profitability, and regulatory compliance of the branch.
  • The role involves driving business growth through deposit mobilization, loan portfolio expansion, customer acquisition, and superior service delivery while ensuring adherence to the regulatory guidelines of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
  • The Branch Manager will lead branch staff, manage operational risks, ensure effective credit administration, and implement strategies that enhance branch performance and market presence.

 

Key Responsibilities
Branch Operations Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the branch including cash management, account operations, customer service, and transaction processing.
  • Ensure efficient branch processes and adherence to internal operational policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of branch staff to maintain high productivity and service standards.

 

Business Development & Sales Growth:

  • Drive deposit mobilization and loan portfolio growth in line with the bank’s business objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase customer acquisition and retention.
  • Identify new business opportunities within the branch catchment area.
  • Promote the bank’s retail and SME products to individuals and businesses.

 

Credit & Risk Management:

  • Oversee loan origination, credit appraisal, and approval processes within assigned lending limits.
  • Monitor the branch loan portfolio to ensure asset quality and minimize Non-Performing Loans (NPLs).
  • Implement effective credit monitoring and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management policies and internal controls.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure branch operations comply with regulatory requirements issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.

 

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, corporate clients, and business partners.
  • Address complex customer issues, complaints, and escalations promptly.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer experience across all branch touchpoints.

 

Team Leadership & Performance Management:

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise branch staff.
  • Set performance targets and monitor employee productivity.
  • Foster a high-performance culture aligned with the bank’s values and service standards.

 

Reporting & Performance Monitoring:

  • Monitor branch financial performance and prepare regular operational and performance reports.
  • Track key business metrics and report results to regional management.
  • Implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields
  • MBA or professional certification in banking or finance is an added advantage.
  • 7 - 10 years of banking experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of retail banking operations, lending practices, and financial products.
  • Experience in deposit mobilization, credit administration, and business development.
