Husk Power Systems is seeking a highly motivated and talented Area Sales Manager to lead the expansion of our Hybrid Minigrid (HMG) footprint across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. This role is central to solving Nigeria’s energy access deficit by driving rural electrification through strategic B2B and B2C sales. You will be responsible for the financial performance of our minigrid sites, managing a high-performing sales team, and entrenching "Best Practices" to ensure scalable, continuous revenue growth.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep roots in the Nigerian energy sector and a proven ability to navigate the complexities of rural market entry and community engagement.
Requirements:
Strategic Leadership & Sales Operations
Vision & Execution: Establish the strategic vision for Hybrid Minigrid sales and execute monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales targets within strict timeframes.
Team Mentorship: Manage and motivate a diverse sales personnel team to create a performance-driven culture focused on efficiency and collaboration.
Operational Optimization: Drive "Best Practices" across the national business, ensuring successful local strategies are scaled across other subsidiaries.
Strategic Reporting: Provide comprehensive reporting on pipeline development, forecasting, key account status, and budget performance to senior leadership.
Business Growth & Market Intelligence
Market Expansion: Identify and enter new markets by developing robust segmentation and targeting strategies for both existing and potential sites.
Community Intelligence: Create market intelligence packs to drive accurate customer sizing and pricing decisions; establish scalable promotional tools.
Pipeline Management: Stringently monitor the revenue pipeline to ensure a balance between long-term growth and immediate revenue achievements.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor market trends and competitor activity to optimize Husk’s market entry and expansion strategies.
Stakeholder & Partnership Management
Relationship Management: Develop and maintain productive relationships with regulatory bodies, community groups, and commercial stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other Business Unit heads to align partnership engagements with overall sales performance trends.
Conflict Resolution: Negotiate solutions and resolve conflicts in the best interest of the company, its customers, and its employees.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Graduate degree from a leading institution in Sales, Business Management, or Marketing.
Postgraduate degree (MBA) or related professional qualifications are highly preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of relevant sales experience, with at least 2–4 years in a leadership role specifically within the energy sector.
Hands-on experience in B2C and B2B sales within rural areas is essential.
Technical Skills:
In-depth understanding of the Nigerian power sector and regulatory landscape.
Mastery of MS Excel (for data analysis and forecasting) and project management tools like Asana, Slack, or MS Project.
Core Competencies:
Strategic Thinking: A clearly defined thought process with a mindset geared toward continuous improvement.
Problem Solving: Ability to provide time-bound, analytical solutions to complex business hurdles.
Mobility: Willingness to be based in Jos and travel frequently to various rural site locations.
