Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and highly analytical Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our financial integrity, responsible for maintaining accurate ledgers, ensuring robust internal controls, and guaranteeing compliance with the unique regulatory landscape of the Nigerian microfinance sector. This is an ideal position for a finance professional who combines technical accounting rigor with the ability to provide data-driven insights that steer business performance. If you have 2–5 years of experience in a financial institution and a deep commitment to fiscal accuracy and integrity, we want you to manage our financial records and reporting.

Requirements:

• Financial Operations: Process daily financial transactions and maintain the general ledger with 100% accuracy. Prepare timely financial statements and monthly management reports.

• Reconciliations & Controls: Perform complex reconciliations across bank accounts, customer ledgers, loan portfolios, and investments. Enforce strict adherence to internal financial controls to safeguard bank assets.

• Regulatory & Audit Compliance: Ensure all financial practices align with accounting standards, tax laws, and specific microfinance banking regulations. Act as a key liaison during internal and external audits.

• Budgeting & Analysis: Support the finance manager in budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity monitoring. Provide actionable financial insights to assist leadership in business decision-making.

• Treasury Oversight: Process payments and financial disbursements, ensuring all transactions are backed by proper documentation and approval hierarchies. Identify and flag financial risks or potential control gaps.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.

• Certification: Possession of ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or an equivalent professional certification is a significant added advantage.

• Experience: 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a Microfinance Bank (MFB), commercial bank, or a similar financial institution.
