ACCOUNTANT / FINANCIAL CONTROLLER AT SOFTNATION HOMES LIMITED | ACCOUNTANT / FINANCIAL CONTROLLER JOBS IN LAGOS

Magodo, Lagos, Nigeria | Posted on 16/06/2026

About Company:

Softnation Homes Ltd is a forward-thinking real estate development, marketing, and consultancy firm, dedicated to delivering luxury land and home solutions that fuse elegance, exclusivity, and strategic value. We exist to raise the bar in property living, optimizing spaces for discerning cosmopolitans who want more than just shelter, they want prestige, comfort, and a sound investment.

Job Description:

  • This is a foundational finance role.
  • The successful candidate will not simply maintain existing records, they will design and implement the firms' accounting systems, processes, and controls from inception. Beyond the day-to-day, this role carries real financial leadership: budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and advising management on the prudent use of the company's resources.
  • We are looking for the best hand for this role.
  • Compensation has been structured to attract that calibre of candidate, and we are prioritising competence over cost.

Key Responsibilities
Systems & Process Design:

  • Design, build, and implement a complete accounting system, structure, and process for the company from the ground up
  • Establish internal financial controls, policies, and procedures that ensure accuracy, accountability, and smooth day-to-day operations
  • Select, set up, and administer appropriate accounting software for the company's needs
  • Continuously improve financial processes as the company scales.

Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and complete books of account and the general ledger
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports — monthly, quarterly, and annual
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash position
  • Oversee project-level accounting and cost tracking across the company's developments
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all financial transactions.

Budgeting & Financial Planning:

  • Develop company budgets based on historical trends, project pipelines, and management objectives
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor performance against budget, flagging variances
  • Provide financial modelling and analysis to support project and investment decisions.

Financial Advisory & Control:

  • Advise management on the efficient and prudent utilisation of the company's financial resources
  • Monitor financial performance and provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial stakeholders.

Compliance & Statutory Obligations:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax obligations — VAT, PAYE, CIT, WHT — and statutory filings
  • Liaise with tax authorities (FIRS, LIRS) and external auditors as required
  • Keep the company compliant with applicable financial regulations and reporting standards.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • A Bachelor's degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, with demonstrated exposure to financial control or management accounting
  • Proven ability to set up accounting systems and processes from scratch — not only to maintain existing ones
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (compulsory)
  • Proficiency in accounting software: Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
  • Solid experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Sound knowledge of Nigerian tax law and statutory compliance (FIRS, LIRS, PAYE, VAT, CIT, WHT)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver with minimal supervision
  • Must reside in or within a comfortable commute of Magodo, Lagos.

Advantageous:

  • A professional accounting qualification — ICAN or ACCA (chartered status is a strong advantage)
  • Experience in the real estate, construction, or property development sector
  • Experience with project-based accounting and joint venture or investor reporting
  • Familiarity with financial modelling for development projects
  • Working familiarity with AI and modern productivity tools.

Who You Are:

  • A strategic thinker who can see beyond the numbers to their business implications
  • A proactive self-starter who is comfortable and energised by building something new rather than inheriting an existing system
  • Trustworthy and discreet when handling sensitive financial information
  • A strong communicator who can present financial information clearly to non-finance management.

What We Offer

  • A negotiable, competitive salary designed to attract top talent, strong candidates are welcomed regardless of salary expectation
  • The opportunity to build and lead the finance function of a growing premium real estate company
  • A direct working relationship with the Managing Director and a meaningful voice in business decisions.
