Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber and disciplined Accountant to join our team in Maitama. This role is central to our financial operations, requiring a professional who can navigate the complexities of project-based accounting within the construction industry. You will be responsible for maintaining financial integrity through rigorous reporting, budget oversight, and tax compliance, ensuring that our projects remain both viable and profitable.

The ideal candidate will combine technical accounting mastery with a deep understanding of cost control and statutory requirements in the Federal Capital Territory.

Requirements:

Financial Reporting & Management

• Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports to guide executive decision-making.

• Payroll Oversight: Manage the end-to-end processing of staff salaries, benefits, and associated deductions.

• Audit Management: Act as the primary liaison for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring transparent financial records.

Project Budgeting & Cost Control

• Budget Monitoring: Track and analyze project-specific budgets, identifying variances and implementing cost-control measures to prevent overruns.

• Expenditure Tracking: Ensure all project expenses are correctly categorized and aligned with approved financial plans.

Taxation & Compliance

• Statutory Filings: Handle all monthly and annual tax filings (WHT, VAT, PAYE) to ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax laws.

• Regulatory Liaison: Manage relationships and communications with relevant tax authorities.

• Policy Adherence: Ensure all accounting activities align with internal financial policies and industry-specific regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Certification: Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is considered a significant added advantage.

• Experience: * Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting.

  • Industry Preference: Direct experience within the construction industry is highly preferred.

• Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of modern accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or Odoo).

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel for complex financial modeling and data analysis.

• Core Competencies:

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.

  • Organization: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project accounts simultaneously.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting to senior management.
