We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Description:

• The Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, cost control, and compliance with financial regulations.
• In a food management company, the role also focuses on inventory accounting, cost of production, sales reconciliation, and profit analysis across retail and wholesale operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
• Record daily sales (retail & wholesale) and reconcile cash, POS, and bank transactions.
• Track inventory costs (food ingredients and packaging materials).
• Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) and production expenses.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Handle payroll processing and staff expense claims.
• Ensure proper tax computation and remittance (VAT, WHT, PAYE).
• Conduct stock valuation and assist in stock audits.
• Support budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

KPIs for an Accountant in a Food Company

• Accuracy of financial reports.
• Timeliness of reconciliations.
• Inventory variance levels.
• Cost control effectiveness.
• Compliance and audit results.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles.
• Inventory and cost accounting (very important in food companies).
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo, ERP systems).
• Financial reporting and reconciliation skills.

Soft Skills:

• Attention to detail.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication skills.

Other Relevant Experience (Added Advantage):

• Experience in FMCG or food processing companies.
• Understanding of:
  • Perishable inventory management.
  • Wastage and spoilage tracking.
  • Pricing and margin analysis.
• Experience working with:
  • Retail and wholesale sales structures.
  • Distributors and suppliers.
  • Participation in internal or external audits.
