Job Description:
- Financial Management and Oversight: Supervise all accounting operations, including accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, and cost accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor the accounts team, conduct appraisals, and develop capacity to deliver organizational goals.
- Reporting and Period-End Close: Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ensure timely completion of period-end closing activities.
- Internal Controls and Compliance: Establish, monitor, and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure adherence to statutory and tax obligations.
- Business Support and Process Improvement: Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and drive continuous improvement initiatives in accounting processes.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable transaction taxes (VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.), including accurate filing, remittances, and preparation of tax schedules to avoid penalties.
Requirements:
- Expertise in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills.
Soft/Power Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills; ability to mentor and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement and innovation.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Offic
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) required.
- Must have 5-7 years accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial management practices.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws (VAT, WHT, PAYE, Company Income Tax) and experience in ensuring tax compliance.
- Proven track record of leading teams and delivering results in a fast-paced setting.
