Job Description:

We are seeking a disciplined and highly analytical Account Officer to manage financial operations at our regional depots. This role is central to maintaining the integrity of our supply chain finance, requiring a professional who can balance meticulous record-keeping with the fast-paced demands of depot operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions at your assigned location are accurate, reconciled, and compliant with both internal policies and national accounting standards.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong ethical foundation and the professional certification required to manage corporate financial data with absolute precision.

Requirements:

Financial Documentation & Bookkeeping

  • Transaction Recording: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all daily depot transactions, including sales, expenses, and petty cash.

  • Ledger Management: Prepare and update accounting ledgers in accordance with standard accounting principles.

  • Reporting: Generate weekly and monthly financial reports for the head office, providing visibility into the depot's fiscal performance.

Reconciliation & Inventory Oversight

  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank statement reconciliations to ensure all depot inflows and outflows match system records.

  • Inventory Liaison: Work closely with the store and warehouse teams to reconcile physical stock levels with financial records, identifying and investigating any discrepancies.

  • Account Payables/Receivables: Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices and vendor payments to maintain healthy cash flow and supplier relationships.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Policy Adherence: Ensure all financial activities at the depot strictly adhere to company financial policies and internal control procedures.

  • Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audit exercises.

  • Statutory Compliance: Assist in ensuring that all relevant local taxes and levies at the depot level are documented and processed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Minimum of Second Class Lower or Lower Credit).

  • Certification: Professional certifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) are Mandatory.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role. Experience in depot operations or the logistics sector is an advantage.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret financial data and perform complex reconciliations.

    • Integrity: A high level of personal accountability and professionalism in handling company funds.

    • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to liaise with the head office and depot staff.

    • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel and modern accounting software/ERP systems.
