Job Description:

We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Account Officer to serve as a core pillar of our finance team in Victoria Island. In a fast-paced commercial hub, financial success is built on the foundation of "Zero-Error Accounting." This role is designed for a "Fiscal Disciplinarian", a professional with 2–3 years of experience who can blend high-speed transaction processing with the analytical rigor required for complex account reconciliations.

Your mission is to ensure "Data Integrity and Audit Readiness." You will be responsible for the entire financial documentation lifecycle: from processing invoices and managing daily sales reports to executing bank reconciliations and supporting the preparation of strategic budgets. If you possess "Analytical Grit" and the organizational discipline to maintain flawless records, we want you to anchor our financial operations.

Requirements:

1. Transaction Governance & Cash Management

  • Documentation Stewardship: Maintain high-integrity financial records and physical/digital accounting documentation, ensuring every entry is backed by verifiable source documents.

  • Payable/Receivable Processing: Manage the end-to-end processing of invoices, vendor payments, and staff expense reports, ensuring all transactions align with company policies.

  • Sales Monitoring: Oversee daily sales reports and financial transactions, identifying and investigating any discrepancies in real-time.

2. Reconciliation & Reporting Accuracy

  • Rigorous Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank statements and general ledgers to ensure the company’s internal records perfectly mirror its actual financial position.

  • Budgetary Support: Assist the Finance Manager in preparing annual budgets and monthly financial reports, providing the data-driven insights necessary for executive decision-making.

  • Policy Compliance: Ensure that every transaction adheres to internal financial controls and regulatory procedures, mitigating the risk of fiscal mismanagement.

3. Audit Support & Process Optimization

  • Audit Readiness: Serve as a primary point of contact during internal and external audit cycles, providing organized documentation and clear explanations for transaction histories.

  • Control Implementation: Support the continuous improvement of financial processes to enhance accuracy and reduce the turnaround time for financial reporting.

  • Analytical Oversight: Use Excel and accounting software to identify trends in expenses or sales that require management attention.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Progress in ICAN/ACCA is an added advantage).

  • Experience: 2–3 years of proven experience in a structured accounting role.

  • Location: Must be able to work full-time in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of Account Reconciliation and financial reporting standards.

  • Software Proficiency: High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and modern accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or SAP).

  • Analytical Grit: Exceptional attention to detail; you are the one who ensures every kobo is accounted for.

Salary

₦200,000 - ₦250,000/month
