Job Description:
African Foundries is seeking a meticulous and highly organized Account Officer to manage the financial heartbeat of our manufacturing operations. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our financial records, ensuring seamless transaction processing, and upholding strict compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements. You will navigate the complexities of inventory accounting in a heavy industry environment, from raw material reconciliation to month-end reporting.
The ideal candidate is a disciplined accounting professional with a strong grasp of manufacturing cost centers, Nigerian tax laws (FIRS/LIRS), and IFRS standards.
Requirements:
Daily Financial Operations
Transaction Management: Post all daily financial transactions—including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments—into the accounting system with 100% accuracy.
Banking & Treasury: Monitor bank balances daily, handle cash deposits/withdrawals, and prepare comprehensive bank reconciliation statements.
Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate computation of monthly depreciation.
Manufacturing & Inventory Control
Stock Reconciliation: Perform critical reconciliations of raw materials and finished goods stock between finance records and production reports.
Cost Center Reporting: Generate weekly and monthly reports on cash flow, debtors, creditors, and specific manufacturing cost centers to support management decision-making.
Accounts Receivable & Payable
Invoicing: Timely generation of customer invoices and aggressive follow-up on overdue accounts to maintain healthy cash flow.
Vendor Management: Process vendor invoices, secure necessary internal approvals, and prepare structured payment schedules.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
Tax Filings: Prepare detailed schedules for VAT, WHT, and Company Income Tax filings, ensuring timely remittance to FIRS and LIRS.
Payroll Support: Assist in payroll preparation, ensuring accurate deductions for PAYE, Pension, NHF, and other statutory requirements.
Audit Readiness: Act as a key point of contact for internal and external audits by providing necessary documents, schedules, and reconciliations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience:
2–4 years of experience in a similar role.
Direct experience within the Manufacturing, Steel, or Heavy Industry sector is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong working knowledge of accounting software (experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is a significant advantage).
Solid understanding of IFRS and Nigerian Tax Laws.
