African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.
Job Description:
- The Account Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting financial reporting for African Foundries in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting: Post all financial transactions into the accounting system, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Banking: Prepare bank reconciliation statements, monitor bank balances, and handle cash deposits and withdrawals.
- Invoicing & Receivables: Raise customer invoices, track receivables, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Payables: Process vendor invoices, obtain approvals, and prepare payment schedules.
- Inventory Accounting: Reconcile raw material and finished goods stock with finance records and production reports.
- Payroll Support: Assist with payroll preparation, PAYE, pension, NHF, and other statutory deductions/remittances.
- Tax & Compliance: Prepare schedules for VAT, WHT, and Company Income Tax filings. Ensure timely remittance to FIRS/LIRS.
- Month-End Closing: Assist in month-end and year-end closing, including journals, accruals, and provisions.
- Reporting: Generate weekly and monthly reports on cash flow, debtors, creditors, and cost centers.
- Audit Support: Provide documents and schedules during internal and external audits.
- Asset Register: Maintain fixed asset register and compute depreciation.
Requirements:
- Education: BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years in a manufacturing,Poweror heavy industry environment preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting software like Navision, Proficiency in Excel. Understanding of IFRS and Nigerian tax laws.
- Competencies: Attention to detail, integrity, analytical thinking, and ability to meet deadlines.
