Job Description:

We are a young, fast-growing technology company dedicated to building social applications specifically for tertiary institution students. Having already launched our core application, we are now entering a critical phase of optimization. We are looking for a creative, empathetic, and user-focused UI/UX Designer specifically someone currently enrolled in a University, Polytechnic, or other tertiary institution to help us bridge the gap between our current product and the ultimate student experience.

This is an exceptional "ground-floor" opportunity for a student looking to launch a career in design. You won’t just be pushing pixels; you will be the voice of the student community, turning real-world feedback into digital solutions.

Requirements:

User Research & Discovery

• User Advocacy: Conduct interviews and chats with fellow students to understand their pain points, social habits, and experience with our app.

• Feedback Analysis: Synthesize user conversations into actionable insights to determine which features need improvement.

• Problem Identification: Define the "why" behind user friction and map out the user journey to find areas of delight or frustration.

UI Design & Prototyping

• Visual Solutions: Suggest modern UI improvements that resonate with a Gen-Z and student demographic.

• Redesign: Create wireframes and high-fidelity mockups for new features or existing screens based on your research findings.

• Prototyping: Build interactive prototypes to test ideas quickly before they go into development.

Collaboration

• Strategic Input: Present your findings and design suggestions to the product team.

• Iteration: Work closely with our developers to ensure that the designs are feasible and correctly implemented.

Qualifications and Skills:

Eligibility & Experience

• Current Student: You must be a current student in a University, Polytechnic, or any other tertiary institution.

• Experience Level: 0–4 years. We welcome beginners who have a strong eye for design and a passion for learning.

• Education: Minimum of First School Leaving Certificate (the focus is on your design potential and current student status).

Technical & Creative Skills

• Design Tools: Familiarity with (or a strong desire to learn) industry-standard tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.

• Empathy: A deep ability to listen to users and translate their "complaints" into design "solutions."

• Aesthetic Sense: An understanding of modern mobile app design trends, specifically for social platforms.

Core Soft Skills

• Communication: Comfortable talking to strangers (users) and explaining your design choices to the team.

• Curiosity: A natural desire to figure out how things work and how to make them better.

• Self-Motivation: Ability to manage your time effectively while balancing schoolwork and remote design tasks.
