The company also operates a 2,500 m² workshop equipped to handle a wide range of mechanical maintenance, repair, and fabrication services.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Procurement Engineer to lead procurement strategy for our mechanical workshop, fabrication operations, and production facilities. This is a highly technical role that requires deep engineering knowledge. You will serve as the technical bridge between our maintenance/production teams and our procurement department, ensuring that every industrial component—from raw steel to precision mechanical spares—is fit for purpose, technically compliant, and cost-effective.
Requirements:
Technical Verification: Review and validate material requests from workshop, production, maintenance, and project teams. Ensure all items meet exact specifications, datasheets, and drawings.
Strategic Sourcing: Lead the identification and procurement of specialized items, including steel, piping, valves, hydraulic/pneumatic components, CNC/plasma consumables, and heavy machinery spare parts.
Supplier Management: Communicate with local and international suppliers to secure competitive quotations and technical data. Maintain and expand a database of reliable vendors.
Procurement Oversight: Guide the procurement team to prevent incorrect purchases. Perform detailed technical and commercial comparisons (TBE/CBE) to ensure the best value.
Operational Support: Collaborate closely with engineers and workshop supervisors to troubleshoot material needs and ensure timely delivery to support continuous plant operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience: 5–7 years of hands-on experience in technical or industrial procurement within manufacturing, fabrication, oil & gas, or lubricant/waste oil recycling sectors.
Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and material safety data sheets (MSDS).
Market Insight: Strong familiarity with the Nigerian industrial supply market and experience in navigating import/logistics processes.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Office (specifically Excel) for tracking, reporting, and quotation analysis.
