Job Description:

Glorious Light International School is seeking a passionate, articulate, and dedicated English Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a deep appreciation for the English language and literature while ensuring students achieve high levels of literacy and communication skills. We are looking for an educator who can deliver engaging lessons, manage a classroom effectively, and contribute to the holistic development of our students.

Requirements:

1. Curriculum Delivery & Instruction

• Lesson Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that cover grammar, composition, phonics, and literature in line with the school’s curriculum.

• Instructional Excellence: Use a variety of teaching methods (visual aids, interactive technology, and group work) to cater to different learning styles.

• Literacy Development: Focus on improving students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through creative workshops and exercises.

2. Assessment & Student Progress

• Evaluation: Design and grade assessments, including essays, tests, and oral presentations, to measure student progress.

• Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents during PTA meetings.

• Remediation: Identify students who are struggling with language concepts and provide additional support or personalized learning plans.

3. Classroom Management & Environment

• Atmosphere: Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation.

• Discipline: Enforce school rules and maintain a high standard of student behavior and discipline.

• Mentorship: Serve as a role model, guiding students in their moral and social development.

• Location Requirement (Mandatory)

• Proximity: Applicants must reside in Sangotedo or its immediate environs (e.g., Ajah, Abijo, Langbasa). Candidates living outside this axis will not be considered due to logistical reasons.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience

• Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.), English Language, or a related field (N.C.E. with significant experience may be considered).

• Experience: Previous experience teaching English in a reputable school is highly preferred.

• Certification: TRCN registration is an added advantage.

Core Competencies

• Communication: Exceptional command of the English language (both written and verbal) and diction.

• Tech-Savvy: Ability to use basic computer applications and digital teaching tools.

• Soft Skills: Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children/teenagers
