Job Description:
We are seeking a high-integrity and enthusiastic Intern (Cashier) to join our retail operations team in Lagos. In a high-traffic business environment, success is defined by "Transactional Precision", the ability to manage cash flows, digital payments, and customer interactions with 100% accuracy and a professional demeanor. This role is designed for a "Numerical Talent in Training" who is eager to learn the mechanics of retail finance and customer service excellence.
Your mission is to support the seamless flow of point-of-sale (POS) operations. You will be at the front line of our brand: responsible for processing payments, reconciling daily sales, and ensuring every customer leaves with a positive impression. If you possess a "Strong Sense of Responsibility," a natural aptitude for numbers, and a genuine readiness to learn, we want to help you build your professional foundation.
Requirements:
1. Transactional Accuracy & POS Management
Payment Processing: Learn to operate modern Point-of-Sale (POS) systems to process cash, debit/credit cards, and digital transfers with speed and accuracy.
Fiscal Reconciliation: Assist in the daily counting and balancing of the cash drawer, ensuring all physical cash matches the digital sales records.
Pricing Integrity: Verify that items are scanned at the correct price and apply any valid discounts or promotional codes accurately.
2. Customer Engagement & Service Excellence
Brand Ambassadorship: Greet customers warmly and provide a professional checkout experience that reflects our company’s values.
Conflict Resolution: Learn to handle basic customer inquiries or complaints regarding pricing and change, escalating complex issues to supervisors when necessary.
Information Resource: Stay updated on store promotions and product locations to provide helpful information to customers during their checkout journey.
3. Operational Support & Compliance
Packaging & Presentation: Ensure that items are bagged securely and neatly, maintaining the high standard of our brand’s physical presentation.
Security Awareness: Learn to identify counterfeit currency and adhere to all internal security protocols regarding large cash movements.
Station Maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies (receipt paper, bags, etc.).
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Minimum of OND or a relevant secondary school qualification with strong grades in Mathematics/Accounting.
Experience: No prior experience is required, but a strong willingness to learn professional retail processes is mandatory.
Integrity: Must have an unblemished record of honesty and a high sense of personal accountability.
Core Competencies
Numerical Aptitude: Comfortable performing basic mental arithmetic and handling money under pressure.
Communication Skills: Ability to speak clearly and professionally with a diverse range of Lagos customers.
