Job Description:
We are seeking a technically proficient and safety-conscious Solar Installation Officer to lead the deployment of our renewable energy projects. With a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of solar PV systems—from site assessment and physical installation to commissioning and long-term maintenance. This role is ideal for an electrical professional who enjoys working in the field, troubleshooting complex hybrid systems, and ensuring that every kilowatt-hour is delivered safely and efficiently to our residential and commercial clients.
Requirements:
1. Technical Installation & Commissioning
System Deployment: Install, configure, and commission photovoltaic (PV) systems, including modules, racking, and balance-of-system components, ensuring strict adherence to NEC and IEC standards.
Schematic Implementation: Interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints to execute precise wiring for inverters, charge controllers, and battery banks.
Site Assessment: Conduct thorough on-site evaluations to determine structural integrity, shading factors, and optimal system sizing for maximum energy yield.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Diagnostics: Perform advanced troubleshooting on underperforming systems, utilizing testing instruments to identify faults in strings, connections, or inverter logic.
System Repairs: Execute preventative and corrective maintenance, including battery health checks, panel cleaning, and wiring upgrades for hybrid and off-grid systems.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of materials used, system configurations, and maintenance history to ensure long-term serviceability.
3. Safety & Stakeholder Coordination
Safety Leadership: Enforce rigorous safety protocols for working at heights and handling high-voltage DC/AC systems, ensuring zero-incident operations.
Team Synergy: Coordinate with project engineers and contractors to meet strict installation timelines without compromising on quality.
Client Education: Provide end-users with clear orientations on system monitoring, basic maintenance, and safety procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Academic Background: Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Hands-on Tenure: At least 1 year of experience in solar PV installation, specifically with hybrid systems and battery storage.
Certifications: NABCEP, PV Installation Professional, or local electrical certifications are a significant advantage.
Technical Competencies
Blueprint Literacy: High proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Standard Compliance: Deep understanding of solar PV components and international safety standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
Tools of the Trade: Expert handling of multi-meters, solar pathfinders, crimping tools, and high-voltage testing equipment.
Physical & Personal Attributes
Physical Fitness: Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and operate in varying outdoor weather conditions.
Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to wiring and mechanical fastening to prevent system failure or fire hazards.
