Job Description:

  • As a Fullstack Developer, you will report directly to the CTO; and will equally play a key role in designing and maintaining the backbone of straitPay’s applications, supporting the CTO in providing technical guidance to the development team.
  • You will design and ship end to end systems, partner tightly with Product, Design, Customer Success, Sales and Marketing on real customer workflows, and turn vague problems into shippable software with speed and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of engineering delivery end-to-end, from designing solutions and prioritising work through implementation, release and post-deployment support.
  • Design, build and maintain high quality full-stack systems, ensuring features are shipped reliably, on time and to a high standard.
  • Ensure the platform remains secure, reliable and performant, contributing to effective monitoring, alerting, incident response and recovery practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to ensure technical decisions and delivery outcomes stay aligned with business priorities, customer needs, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design, helping evolve the platform without unnecessary complexity or delivery friction.
  • Champion engineering excellence through clean, maintainable code, strong documentation, automated testing, CI/CD best practices and a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship through code reviews and design discussions, leading by example as a senior individual contributor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in fullstack development and mobile app development.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Strong background working in regulated or compliance driven environments, preferably within fintech or financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience working in agile delivery environments with modern engineering practices.
  • Experience working with engineering teams delivering critical platforms with high uptime, security and performance requirements.
  • Proven experience working with cloud native architectures, microservices, CI/CD pipelines and API-driven ecosystems.
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance driven environments (e.g., banking regulatory frameworks) is a strong advantage.

Technology Stack:

  • Backend: Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript
  • Frontend: React, Next.js
  • Mobile: React Native
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Cloud: AWS
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions.

What you'll get

  • Be part of a fast-growing fintech transforming financial access in Africa.
  • Work in a dynamic and innovative environment with global exposure.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • A mission-driven company where your work directly contributes to empowering Africans worldwide
