Job Description:
Implement strategies and protocols to ensure the safety and security of staff, assets, and programs.
Maintain strong contextual awareness of operating areas and ensure close coordination with program and support teams.
Promote a safety-first culture at field offices by conducting regular security trainings and awareness sessions.
Support the conduct of Security Risk Assessments (SRA) based on contextual risk levels, ensuring compliance with FHI 360’s Security Policy.
Assist state offices and field locations in managing day-to-day security operations and responding effectively to security incidents (natural or man-made).
Supervise the work of contracted security providers and guard companies in line with agreed terms.
Oversee physical security measures, fire safety systems, and conduct periodic office evacuation drills.
Establish and maintain networks with security stakeholders for information sharing and joint lobbying on security-related issues.
Represent the organization in external security meetings (e.g., INSO, UNDSS) and provide timely feedback to management.
Implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operations in the North-East.
Draft and circulate security advisories for general awareness and specific incidents during periods of elevated threat.
Collaborate with the North-East Security Team in managing security incidents, ensuring proper communication, and recommending response actions.
Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational safety and security objectives.
Requirements:
- Competent and literate in English, verbal and written, with a sound knowledge of technical expressions
- Sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with others at all levels
- Strong assessment, evaluation, analysis and strategic planning skills
- IT literate, MS - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Interpersonal communication and proven written / presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage under stressful conditions
- Demonstrated knowledge of the historical and socio-political context of Nigeria
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferable in Security Management or related field.
- Professional certification in security risk management or advanced security management highly desirable.
- Security or management certifications will also be an added advantage.
- 5 - 7 years working in security Industry, experience working in complex insecure settings preferred.
- 3 years working in Security management for NGO or donor funded organization.
- Experience in liaising with law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
- Experience in managing incidents, incident mapping, developing and producing high quality security reports and assessments.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrative security management experience in hostile environment.
