Job Description:

We are seeking a high-velocity and strategically elite Safety and Security Advisor (Consultant) to anchor the resilience engine of International Alert’s Nigeria Country Programme. In the specialized landscape of fragile and conflict-affected regions, success is defined by "Security Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize peacebuilding objectives with the clinical precision required for Risk Assessments, SOP Implementation, and Business Continuity. This role is designed for a "Resilience Architect" with 7–10 years of experience who can blend "Tactical Grit" (conducting field-level risk analyses) with the "Strategic Agility" required to develop Security Risk Management Plans (SRMPs) and advise senior management on emerging threats.

Requirements:

1. Risk Orchestration & Systemic Governance

• Assessment Sovereignty: Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments across programme locations with millimetric focus, acting as the primary "Source of Threat Intelligence."

• Policy Architecture: Review and strengthen existing security SOPs and guidelines, providing the "Structural Foundation" for international-standard safety systems.

• Continuity Stewardship: Develop or update Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and emergency response procedures, ensuring the "Source of Operational Resilience" is elite.

2. Tactical Resilience & Incident Logic

• Response Sovereignty: Review and strengthen incident reporting and tracking systems, acting as the primary "Source of Tactical Readiness."

• Field Architecture: Develop field travel protocols and field-specific security plans, providing the "Analytical Foundation" for staff safety during high-risk missions.

• Review Stewardship: Lead post-incident reviews and lessons-learned documentation, maintaining the "Source of Continuous Systemic Improvement."

3. Capacity Integrity & Leadership Power

• Training Sovereignty: Deliver high-fidelity training sessions on personal safety and crisis management, acting as the primary "Source of Staff Empowerment."

• Advisory Architecture: Provide ongoing technical advice to senior management on mitigation strategies, providing the "Visual Foundation" for security-integrated programme planning.

• Velocity Logic: Utilize 7–10 years of INGO security experience to rapidly update Country Security Plans within the 6-month consultancy, maximizing the "Source of Organizational Velocity."

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Master’s degree (MA/MSc) in Security Studies, International Relations, or Risk Management.

• Experience: 7–10 years in safety and security management, specifically with INGOs or international organizations.

• Global Exposure: Demonstrated experience as a Security Advisor outside Nigeria in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.

• Tech Mastery: Ability to develop and implement functional incident reporting and digital tracking systems.
