Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Pharmacist Assistant to provide critical support to our Lead Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy. In this role, you will be the Pharmacist’s "right hand," assisting with the safe dispensing of medications, managing cashiering duties with high integrity, and ensuring that our inventory is meticulously recorded and stored. This position requires a professional who is highly computer literate and understands that in a pharmacy, accuracy is not just a goal—it is a safety requirement.
Requirements:
1. Dispensing Support & Patient Care
Prescription Assistance: Support the Pharmacist in labeling, counting, and packaging medications accurately according to prescription orders.
Clinical Safety: Ensure all work surfaces and dispensing equipment are clean and organized to prevent cross-contamination.
Patient Interaction: Assist in gathering patient information and providing basic guidance on non-prescription items under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
2. Inventory Management & Quality Control
Stock Intake: Receive and verify incoming inventories against invoices, ensuring that quantities are correct and products are undamaged.
Storage Protocol: Assist in the proper "First-In-First-Out" (FIFO) shelf placement, with a specific focus on maintaining the cold chain for temperature-sensitive medications.
Expiries Tracking: Conduct regular stock checks to identify and remove short-dated or expired medications before they reach the shelf.
3. Cashiering & Digital Operations
POS Mastery: Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
Financial Integrity: Manage the cash drawer with zero variances, ensuring all receipts, insurance claims, and payments are documented.
Digital Records: Maintain up-to-date digital records of inventory levels and customer profiles, ensuring data privacy and accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience & Education
Education: Minimum of a School Leaving Certificate or National Diploma (Health-related field is a plus).
Technical Mandate: High computer literacy is required for using pharmacy management software and POS systems.
Background: Prior experience in a retail pharmacy or healthcare setting is preferred.

Attention to Detail: Absolute precision in counting medications and recording data.
Integrity: A high moral standard for handling cash and sensitive pharmaceutical inventory.
Reliability: Ability to work closely with the Pharmacist and follow strict clinical instructions.
